I do like Malone, but there's definitely some issues in the team and they weren't dealing with them (of whatever they were doing was ineffective so far). I don't know why that is, so unfortunately the easy assumption is the coach.
There's quite a bit wrong when they're so bad when Jokic is out, but top tier (usually) when he's healthy.

Malone doesn't make much sense from the outside, could be some inside beef, Booth needed to go years ago.
You have the best player in the NBA who will get screwed for his MVP again this year but they haven't made any effort to provide him any meaningful help on the floor. They'll go as far into the playoffs as Joker can take them, by himself.

Many reports are coming to light that it was beef between Malone and Booth. Booth drafting players who Malone did not like and he began to play favorites-Gillespie over Pickett, or Westbrook over Pickett. Malone list the locker room. Malones stubbornness to not play Booth's draft picks, and Booth's poor GM skills lead to them both being let go.
Winningest coach in Nugget history with a damn good 10 year stretch and ready for a playoff run. Still doesn't make sense to not wait out the playoffs with Malone. But as I said earlier the management is hot garbage for that team. You need another all star game level player and you'd be rolling into another championship.
