Colorado Krew Hangout

I ordered an Odyssey Extreme to replace the current Advance Auto Diehard Platinum that replaced an Odyssey Extreme that replaced the Sears Diehard Platinum I bought in late 2014. The math is depressing.

That is some depressing math. I used the Sears Diehard Platinums for years in my previous Jeeps with great success, but I've heard both the Diehard (Clarios) and Odyssey (EnerSys) batteries have gone down in quality over the last ten or so years. Sort of unfortunate that nearly all batteries are made by only two or three companies, so brand doesn't seem to matter as much as the facility that made it. I was hoping to pick up an EverStart AGM from Walmart, simply because it has a better warranty than most other ones, but they don't make a group size 34 AGM battery.

Been busy with projects since Halloween ish. Bumped my stock fenders a few times this summer so swapped to GR while I could still sell the stock ones. Had steel poison spider armor on the corners, went aluminum there. I just got my Flux OR sliders painted and mounted this week. Blue is wrong shade but nothing a rattle can can't fix. Have a set of rear flairs I need to paint and ad as well

I have tomorrow off too and am trying to decide if I want to try any other trails. Most of the trails I tried today were a muddy, icy mess, so I'm trying to think of trails that would generally get sunlight and might not be too bad. Maybe I'll do a scenic drive and do something like Phantom Canyon or Matukat?

Did that area get the same snow we did out here 2 weeks ago? I heard Denver didn't so maybe you're good.... lots and lots and lots of mud in my neighborhood still lol.

Well, Matukat is just north of Florissant, so I would suspect so. Phantom Canyon is between Victor and Canon City, so probably as well, but I'm not actually sure. Most of the snow melted off on the trails near Woodland Park, and pretty much all the snow is gone in the Colorado Springs area, so just the shadowy areas still have snow and ice and mud - the spots with direct sunlight were largely dry.

It'll probably be the same then. Muddy where there's a lot of trees, dry where it isn't, or the road runs E/W. Only one way to find out!!!! Wish I could go with. The one frickin time someone goes to trails by my house and my Jeep is under the knife.

Not to worry - I am silently judging you for not being prepared to join at the drop of a hat, and will be keeping score for future retribution.

But joking aside, I'll be around when you get your Jeep back up and running.(y)

Well, my day got busy today and I ended up only getting to do a one-way run down Gold Camp into the Springs. It was a soupy, muddy mess, so much so that when I stopped in The Broadmoor parking lot (which I personally thought would be funny, given how clean and expensive the place is) to wipe off the windows people were stopping to say stuff like "WOOOWWWW" or to let me know my Jeep was filthy. :ROFLMAO:

I didn't have time to do Matukat, so I hit up Cedar Mountain Road this morning with my son. Unfortunately, Metberry Gulch, Longwater Gulch, and Hackett Gulch were too much of a mess to try and do right now - I'll have to wait until later in spring or when I'm not going solo. Saw some nice beaver dams in Westcreek, and IBasket, I stopped at the Ace Hardware with the red Model T in Florissant ;) .

Jeep hasn't been touched since late December when I backed it out of the driveway to install wall insulation.

Been reaching out to Savvy daily to try and get my rear truss for the mid arm. Gerald wont return emails/calls. Savvy HQ in Florida wont return calls. Savvy's contact form is sitting somewhere in cyber space. Actually, think I need to be in the other thread

Check TNT. They have several options available and they are in Cheyenne.

This. I have the TNT trusses for my JK44 axles. The rear is done and works great, and the front is mostly installed but needs a bit more welding and then I can put it in the Jeep. I also have the TNT hyline fenders and rock sliders and have been impressed by the quality overall.

Is the TNT truss compatible with the rest of the Savvy midarm parts he has already received? 🤫

The savvy truss is designed to keep the upper mounts as low to the housing as possible. This keeps any available uptravel and keeps the vertical separation near stock. I dont know how the TNT one is set up. Also, for what I paid for the midarm, I want my truss!

It also weights a whole lot less.

Vertical separation is wider than stock, but when combined with the frame mounts, it creates the very calm and stable geometry the Savvy kit is known for.
