Is it worth putting A/C into a 2004 2.4?

Since it's hotter then Hell in Florida in the summah, I wondering if I should add ac.

When I saw the post title, my first thought was it depends upon where you live. Since you’re on the Gulf Coast with brutal humidity and some heat (I can say that as it is above 100 here for 5 months every year, with a month of 110+ so I laugh at your 90 degrees), I would say yes. I grew up on the Coast and could not imagine driving a vehicle without AC. Even my 1971 Cutlass convertible has AC (bought in SE Texas).

Do it and you will drive it more often.

If you're worried about loss of power, I can say that I have AC in my 2.5, and would not drive as often if I didn't.

Yes, I can feel the difference in power, especially on the highway or on inclines, but it's definitely worth it for me.

My 2.4 was a shitbrick. Even then, the AC did work. You could very much tell when the compressor was engaged. But on flat long back roads, it's not too bad and the AC is worth it.

Yeah but then you get to "press the turbo button" and turn it off for a power boost

Here in Va the humidity stays in the 90-100% range during the summer. I got a good deal on a jeep with no AC. I lasted one miserable summer before selling it for one with AC.

Why would anyone in FL buy a vehicle without ac?

I would sell yours as a FL jeep to someone in MN and buy one that has it and a 4.0.

I was living in Maine when I bought the Jeep it was my beater with a heater. I had no plans of moving to Florida but things change.

I use the Jeep down here like I did in Maine, just to get around town. I will hop on I -75 to Tampa now and then it will go 75 plus on the highway.

I'll take it to Daytona and drive on the beach. I don't take my corvette on the beach.

I'm down to just the two vehicles in florida since my Altima was totaled.

When it's in the 90s I keep the Jeep in the driveway.

Checked with a shop near me that installs Jeepair.com kit. They said if I buy the kit they will install it. They have to remove the dash etc because it uses the factory vent system. This isn't an underdash setup this will be just like it came from the factory.

The whole setup will cost 3k.

I think this might be the way to go.

I have a 98 2.5 and added a jeepair ac kit to it about 8 years ago. It was worth it. Yes I lose a little power but on those 100+ degree days it is worth it. Also I installed the kit myself in a weekend . It really isn’t a hard job and they included very nice instructions. I just took it to a shop after to have it charged.

I put a stupid metal cart together that should've taken 5 to 10 minutes max to put together. I have essential hand tremors it took all day, I shit you not.

I wouldn't live long enough to install an AC unit in my Jeep.

Ahhh I see . Understandable. For that all in price you listed I feel it’s worth it to have the shop just do it. Also, the nice thing with the jeep air kits like you mentioned, it is like it was installed from the factory. So all parts are easily replaceable. Good luck with your decision 👌🏻
