Hey guys,

There have been tons of threads on the pain of removing the dash to get to the AC evaporator. My A/C blows hot and there is leak behind the dash, which means I need to replace the evaporator core and the heater core while I am in there.

Any comments or opinions while I am taking the dash out to do this labor intensive job, is there anything else on the A/C I should replace while I am doing it?

Id leave the heater core alone...no great replacement options...four seasons is ok but not as hot as the original.

If you're opening up the AC system I'd replace the receiver dryer and get an o-ring kit and replace everything on the hoses and connections.

Appreciate the reply. Yeah, it has heat, just no A/C and there is a leak behind there. Is it the evaporator that is always want generally as to be replaced when taking the HVAC out from the dash? Good idea on the dryer and lines too.

Usually no issues with the evaporator inside the box.

Which brings up a point...if you're sure it's leaking (and not the 20 plus year old o-rings) then what corroded it or caused it to leak? Entirely possible the heater core is also leaking and it corroded the evaporator.

Guess you'll find out.

I'd probably evacuate the system and smoke test and vacuum test the evaporator before I pulled the dash.

Yeah, failed to mention, that I have a antifreeze type smell coming from my A/C vents, when I looked it up, people said that is indicative of a bad heat core, so I guess I am taking the dash off, lol.

He's in GA. we don't get real cold here like they do in Huntsville, ALA. we don't need heated seats and such like they do, our butt's are a lot tougher here 🤪
