Is a 5/8” (Crosby) shackle strong enough for recovery?

Ordered a 5/8” Crosby bow shackle (got it in today) thinking the 3/4” shackle with a 7/8” pin wouldn’t fit my shackle tabs but now I’m thinking it would’ve fit.
Would I be wise to return it and get a 3/4”? Wasn’t through amazon so wouldn’t be a super convenient return.
5/8” has a 6500lb WLL which means a 39,000lb break with Crosbys 6:1 safety factor.
Considering my kinetic rope only has a 28,500lb break I should be fine with the 5/8” shackle, right? Won’t be used with a winch if that matters.
I’m guessing you guys will say it’s totally good but I know there’s really no such thing as too much overkill with this stuff so wanting to make sure as I know these things can kill.
 
Did some measuring on my rear bumper shackle tabs. Didn’t have any 7/8” bolts so found a socket that measures 0.87” (used a caliper) and it would probably fit but would have to be tapped in.
Crosby specs their 3/4” shackle pin at 0.88” so I’d really have to drill out the tab a bit to upsize to a 3/4” shackle.
Am I good to just stick with the 5/8”?
 
I haven't used a steel shackle in years after switching to synthetic rope soft shackles. But I do not recall the pins being 3/4".

My tabs don’t have rounded edges otherwise I would go with soft. Might round them out yet.
3/4” shackles have a 7/8” pin, 5/8” shackles have a 3/4” pin.
My tabs have about a 0.86-0.87” hole.

You'll probably be just fine.

I'd consider getting some well radiused recovery points added rather than the bow shackle.

Buy a carbide bit and radius out what you've got.

Yup, plan on doing that in summer. For now, being winter, I do want the ability to pull from the rear so a steel shackle will have to do for the time being.
That “probably” in being just fine concerns me haha.

Since the shackle has a 10,500lb higher break strength than my kinetic rope, the rope should be the definite weak point which I imagine is better than a steel shackle breaking.

This’ll be used for pulls, not winching.

More than fine provided it is the alloy version. Minimum ultimate is 50,000 lbs or 25 tons. There is almost no way you can break it in a straight pull.

It is not the alloy version. Carbon shackle with alloy pin.
6500lb WLL
13000lb max proof load
39000lb break (6:1 design factor)
Is that not enough to be safe in your opinion?

I always keep a bow shackle or two in my Jeep for other vehicles...it'll never be wasted, you might question having it for a time...but it'll save someone someday.
