Installed the grill lights using a 3.5" carbide hole saw. Easy to do a clean wiring job. I'm pleased with the results. If I end up not liking it, I do have a couple spare grills. So far I like.

I also installed a new windshield header gasket whilst I was going about my TJ chores. No test drive for wind noise but presumably it should be improved. This old sled is shaping up nicely.

What was once a groaning rattle trap with everything out of wack, worn, broken or missing, is now replaced, repaired, swapped, upgraded, adjusted, painted, lubed, insulated, rewired etc.

I just got another amplifier which I will install when the new cables and wires come. Getting pure copper wires. Going to rip out the stereo and rewire all speakers and it will have 2 four channel amps and 1 two channel amp, eight speakers and one sub.

I'll rerun the GMRS radio antenna wire while I am pulling cables and get it in the rear and up high. Probably will put some LED spot lights in the rear as well.

I should post a picture of my tool closet. I am pretty well equipped to handle many or most eventualities. 2 floor jacks and 4 jack stands = my lift. If I get lazy and don't feel like working on my back, I bring my sled to a shop and cross my fingers. I must confess, age has dulled my desire to work on my back (under a vehicle that is). I still do it, but occasionally throw in the towel in the extremely hot weather for that reason.

For me, cold weather is a major deterrent in my advancing age. Hurts the bones something fierce. Getting old is starting to get old! ;)

Tell us more about your stereo plans. Where are you putting the speakers and how are you mounting them? Where are you mounting your amps?
I have 5.25 inch Alpine speakers in the dash, tweeters up top of the dash, 6.5 inch Kenwoods in the soundbar, and 6x9 Kenwoods in boxes on the rear fender humps. A 12" JBL sub boxed in the rear. I will be mounting one amp on the woofer box and the other 2 Pioneer amps on the floor where the back seat sits. I may raise up the seat mounts a tad for those few times I'd use the seat to give more breathing room. I do have a platform that covers the amps so I don't lose storage space. Alpine Blutooth deck in the dash.

I'm glad you did it first. I always liked those turn signal lights on my CJ and thought about doing the same thing.
Are you using the CJ lights for daytime running lights?
Looks great!

Measure carefully and repeatedly before cutting. I got lucky and got them exactly where I wanted them. I am above average with a wrench, but when it comes to delicate body work I am a blind guy with 10 thumbs and delerium tremens. If I want to install one decal I buy three. My wife leaves the house screaming when I hang pictures. I wired them as turn signals only. The UAE version of DoT (RTA here) is very strict about alterations.

Old thread, my apologies.
can you share pictures of your speakers on fender humps, as well as the tweeters above the dash?

I'll get a picture of the tweeters. This is nothing fancy, but it works and sounds good. They are screwed in to the metal behind them.

A bit too big for my liking, but they don't look bad!

I was actually thinking I liked the size of them better than my JK signals. But I have similar skill and confidence in bodywork as the OP so cutting my 3-1/8" hole out to 3-1/2" is absolutely out of the question without a pilot hole for my holesaw arbor.

Now you need to fill the fender lights in with some metal and go full old school. If I ever go back to regular fenders I will definitely do that
