Header/no header, mesh/full shade

Deciding on a safari top. Mesh or full shade in SC. Non-header tops don't have to be removed to put soft top up. Which manufacturer is best for money? I have a Bestop with header in place. Riding with the windows out makes the rear window zipper on sides flap a lot. I'm sure it's not good for the flap connection on each side.

Hands down, above and beyond, the BEST mod I've ever done for my TJ, bar none.

It's cheap, it installs in minutes, and it lets just enough sun through to remind you that the top is off, but not enough through to roast you and the family alive. I don't think I could ever drive a convertible again unless it had something like this on it.

It folds up small when not in use, plus you can leave it on when the soft top (or hard top) is on as well. For the price, you simply can't beat it.

Driving without one of these sun shades just seems silly now that I have one.

I have Spiderweb Shade's version, which is pretty much the same thing that Chris has. I have their bikini version, and their safari version for when the pups ride in the back.

Same here. Spiderwebshade full coverage back to the corner of the sport cage. Works great. I either have that or the soft top up with windows out, which is my version of a safari top that is waterproof. No more switching out headers for me.

I just bought the exact same top about two weeks ago and love it.
I also went to Harbor freight and bought a pack of spare "ball" bungee's (or whatever they are called) just incase one breaks.
Definitely can't go wrong with this top.

Can't vouch for the Alien shade, But I have run my Spiderweb shade 24/7 for almost 2 1/2 years in the Florida sun. Zero issues, Zero complaints. I don't see where it wouldn't last another 2 1/2 years or more.

I have a Spiderweb and an Alien Shade. Both the same quality, both work exactly the same... Hell, from what I can tell, they are identical, just with different brand names printed on them.

The Alien Shade is just a bit cheaper cost wise.

Have the alien shade and really like it. Ryan from the company was very helpful and responsive when I had a question. Great product, price and good customer service. Installed in 5 minutes, no special header needed and can stay on year round. No more sun beating down yet still feels open.

Based on others comments you can't go wrong with either brand

My favored combination is a full safari length solid top together with a permanently mounted Bestop drill-type header. To me, no-drill headers are a clumsy hard to mount invention of the devil. I gave up on mine years ago. I can get my safari top mounted in its permanently mounted header in 1/2 the time it took with the separate no-drill header that has to be remounted each time.

Yes, it stays in place since it doesn't interfere with either.

I had a no drill header and a mesh top for a couple of years. It was a hassle taking it off every time I wanted to put the top up and the header took up a lot of room when it was off. I sold it and bought the Spiderweb Shade that covers the front and rear seats. I love the Spiderweb Shade. I leave it on all of the time; even with the hard top on. I don't need another place to store it and it doesn't take up any room.
The old mesh top did have a couple of zipper pockets in the corners and that was kind of cool. I am surprised that Spiderweb hasn't added those.
