I believe I have managed to get the infamous harmonic vibrations. Earlier this year I swapped out the original Dana 30/44 combo my LJ came with for a set of 44s with 4.88s and ARB lockers. While swapping out the axles I converted the front brakes and steering to a WJ setup. I have been chasing an oscillating vibration that starts at a out 40mph and just gets faster the faster I go. Tom Woods shafts front and rear as a result of a TT with a SSSYE and the front Dana 44.
The vibration is only under a load but goes away when shifted to 4wd. No vibes with front shaft pulled in 2wd or with the rear shaft pulled in 4wd. I have tried just about every pinion angle front and rear.
Since converting to WJ brakes and steering I think I have lost the chance for an easy locking hub remedy. What is the possibility of regearing to 5.38s and the vibes going away? Lol. I also thought about rebuilding the stock 231 TC with a 6 gear planetary and wide chain to just change up some some things to try getting rid of the vibrations since I have convinced myself they are harmonic.
Anyone think either of these 2 possible solutions might work? Anything else to try first?
