We had a great family trip to Moab with some light wheeling here and there. Overall an epic spring break trip that the kids will remember. The LJ did great, until about 15 minutes ago. Went to go see some friends in Grand Junction last night, and on the way back to Moab (and hopefully Pagosa) I smelled a burning smell and pulled over of I-70 at the sketchy Alien Jerky gas station to see what I presume to be transmission fluid covering the undercarriage of the Jeep. All kinds of new noises coming from the transmission too. Only 40k miles on the Jeep, but we put around 1500 highway miles this trip. Also noted the need to rework some suspension components and my front driveshaft, but that’s a tomorrow problem. I’ve got a friend coming from Junction with a trailer and now my mind is in what to do next. The skid is covered in fluid. All the gears seem to be shifting fine though. Don’t want to do more damage though.
Not sure if I’m going to be able to get it home tonight, or when I’ll be able to dig into it to really see what’s going on - but figured I’d turn here to see what everyone’s thoughts are.
