Grease recommendation

Speaking of grease.. you guys recommend any particular gun? The last 3 grease guns I bought were POS's.. is there one out there that doesn't leak all over the place when you're not using it? I have to keep mine wrapped in fuel spill pads or there will be one helluva mess.

Thank you! I like trying new greases out on things, so I'll give that one a shot on some joints that I have to install in the near future.

I've been using two different greases from Mystik on various grease-needing dinguses - JT-6 No.22 and JT-6 No. 2 Hi-Temp - and although I really like them, they seem to separate quickly no matter what I do. I had such a problem with it that I made myself a grease-storage area at work, and started going through an arcane ritual every time I used a grease gun: clean gun, depressurize, clean gun again, store horizontally on clean paper towel. All of the unused tubes are upright and they never get moved around, and I date them so that I know when they came in and when they need to be used. The temperature of the storage area is always around 65°. Results: they bleed just as quickly as they did before...although not nearly as bad as the NLGI 00 that I don't get to use as often as I would like.
There was a thread on POR about greases in grease guns doing that and several reported that the magical Green Grease was immune. I bought some with the recommended grease gun and in about 2 months, had the same mess that I get out of all the rest of the guns that I store grease in.

When taking on a new to me jeep with unknown history do you flush out grease-able joints (u, ball, chassis etc) with new product or just "top off" what is already there?

Is there one grease that is good for everything on the jeep?
I bought a Valvoline molly grease for suspension and also used it on the driveline and suspension. I was disapointed as I believe it washed out quick from mud and watercrossing.

I was thinking of something like a tacky marine grease.
Is there somthing water resistant that would be good for everything on the jeep?

It depends on your location and if there's any mods on your Jeep that require special grease. If I was limited to one tube of grease on a stock Jeep, I'd go with Amsoil Marine.

Jerry,
Are you still using Lucas Red 'N Tacky in your u-joints? Any complaints?
Thanks!
James
Red and Tacky is normally my go to and still is at my work. Been running Redline CV2 in everything now for a while to see how it works.
