Started dealing with the cosmetic damage to my CX that happened when a potential buyer dropped it, twice, at a stop stop sign. The holidays kind of slowed everything down. And I really didn't want to fuck with it.;)
Started with the easy stuff(Yeah, right). The right front turn signal. Man, I am glad that Honda used just one turn signal at all for corners. I had a couple spares on hand, though I had to swap out sockets.

The hard part was fitting my sausage fingers inside the mini fairing to get at the wiring. I have not been in there since 2013.

While rooting around in there I found that one of the wires was pulled off the temp gauge 7v sending unit. That's going to be a fun repair. I do have a spare but no guarantee it's any good. Those were a weak spot.

Living in the Rockies , I totally get it . When I was employed I would leave at 9052' drop to 7600' , up to 9420 ' , down to 8920' all in 16.4 miles.

I'm Illannoy, so nothing like that. Either climb was only a couple hundred feet. I had a long 7% grade to the shop. Home was a long 10%, followed by a short 13% to my driveway. The turn into the driveway was also up hill, but about 4%. When I'd get to the garage door and off my bike, I'd usually sigh and say, "That hill still sucks."

I went to high school in Glen Ellyn, IL. Same deal, uphill both ways. School was on top of a hill, we were even called the Hilltoppers as our mascot. The mile and a half walk from the house was downhill 75% of the way then a climb up to the school.

My grandson played a soccer game there last summer.

The shifting issue, dammit, was a 60 second fix. The quadrant did jump a tooth.

It should look like this.

If you've never seen the timing/flywheel/output/shifty bits of a CX/GL500 engine, here you go.

A hell of a lot of work for that small repair. Probably take three times as long if I had the kid helping me.
