it's been below freezing here (vancouver doesn't usually get so cold) but its been giving me problems with my jeep's door locks. both doors seize up and won't unlock. Passenger side door key turns but does nothing. driver's side key wouldn't even turn, felt like key did nothing in the mechanism just slid right in with no resistance. I was able to crawl in through the back and warmed up the car. after a while I was able to jimmy both doors open, turning the key and smacking under lock helped passenger side, drivers side took longer but eventually opened up regardless of the smacking. though the next morning we were back to square one.

My question is, is there a common fix for this or is the whole door lock mechanism faulty? I've searched up the issue on here and have found varying results, though not too much on the issue being cold related. Maybe some northern members have experience here?

WD40 stands for
Water Displacement formula #40

You will be fine, just be sure you actuate the lock repeatedly to get it all over. You can also put petroleum jelly on the key shaft and enter it into the lock to start it off
