I’ve got an exhaust leak on the flange connecting the manifold to the pre cats.

I was told by one of the fb groups that I probably have clogged cats causing the back pressure causing the leak.

What I’m wondering is how can I 100% know I need to replace my cats. I’m only getting an intermittent code for p0153 (o2 sensor bank2 sensor1).

any help is appreciated. Thanks

Serious question: Has anyone ever heard of this happening?

Seems extremely unlikely to me, but I didn't want to bash the collective intelligence of fb before asking.

Use an IR temperature gun and measure the exhaust temp before the cat, on the cat and after the cat.

Take the o2 out and get a camera with a side view.
