Hi Everyone,

I own a Jeep Wrangler 2005 TJ 2.4 Manual Left Hand Drive, and I desperately need a part called a Tone Ring. I've been told it is the pick-up for the Camshaft Sensor for Synchronisation

Any advice on where I can find would be much appreciated. I've attached photo.

Seems to be a hard to find part.

Either find one at a junkyard, or see if you can flatten the one you have enough to work properly.

Even in the US, the 2.4 is the least supported and the least popular engine in the TJ. You may want to try car-part.com with some zip codes around the east coast, as some of those wrecking yards ship. Internationally may not be their gig though.

Hey Topper - I need a tone ring and an exhaust side cam sprocket too. Somehow mine got bent in transport when I sent my engine to be rebuilt. Don't know if it happened on it's way to the machinist or on the way back and it was transported by two different companies so of course they're pointing fingers which evidently means, I'm left holding the bag. I've done some digging and I'll share what I've discovered so far:

The part number for the cam sprocket/gear is 4667609 and the 2.4L engine was used in a variety of vehicles including the following:

Above is a link to where I found the list of compatible vehicle fitment. My goal now is to reach out to several online parts brokers and salvage yards to see whether they have any of these vehicles in their stock . . .

Doesn't the TJ 2.4 share internals with the Dodge Neon and Caravan 2.4s?

Was watching a Stay Tuned episode on YouTube where they started swapping a 400 HP 2.4 from a Neon SRT into a minivan. Would be awesome to pull all those engine internals, the turbo and header and slap them on a TJ block.

Back on topic...try looking at Dodge Neons and Caravans.

P.S. This is a couple of hours from me, engine pictures might help determine similarities:

I think that as long as the Neon has the 2.4l and not the 2.0l that there is some compatibility with internals. For instance, I have found cam gear/sprockets for a Neon with part number 4667602 however they aren't interchangeable with the 4667609 cam gear/sprocket that I need. I'm assuming that the tone ring if it has one, may not be interchangeable too, unless it's from the 2.4l.

All that said, if anyone reading this has a blown engine that they're parting out, I'd love to purchase the exhaust side cam gear/sprocket and tone ring. I still need to try to contact salvage yards too.
