It has come time for my parents to sell their jeep. After much hesitation from my father over the last year I have convinced him to part with it. In their older age it’s not the most comfortable for them and getting a little more difficult to get in and out.

So here it is, their 2005 Rubicon LJ that I converted with the Cummins R2.8 engine back in 2019. The jeep has just under 164k miles and the new engine has just under 23k.

Here is a link that documents the full conversion with pictures. https://wranglertjforum.com/threads/2005-ljr-r2-8-build.21092/

A few updates from that initial build. We ended up purchasing an upgraded new bigger radiator and fan from Axis industry’s and that has taken care of the initial overheating issue we were experiencing when going up long steep grades in Colorado. Now it seems to maintain temperature much better.

Since the conversion my dad purchased 5 new wheels and tires. Replaced the shocks, upgraded the fender flairs, Installed new custom seat covers, military LED headlights along with adding custom removable steps to assist getting in and out of the jeep.

Comes with the hard top shown and a complete soft top in great condition.

I would say the Jeep needs new track bars and or steering components to help tighten it up a little going down the road. Other than that it runs great, has plenty of power and gets great fuel mileage around 25 mpg depending how you drive.

any questions please ask. A lot of time and money went into this conversion, over $27k in just the conversion and upgrades not including the price of the jeep.

Asking $35k. Located in Crawford Colorado. Could potentially deliver to AZ as that’s where I live if anyone is interested down this way.

A few recent pictures. Will add some of the interior. If anyone wants pictures of something specific let me know but check out the build link as there are lots of pictures there.

That's awesome! GLWS

Thanks! Any recommendation on other places I could list this where I might get more people looking for this kind of build? I've been out of the LJ crowd for a while but I'm sure this is still a desirable build for someone?

I'd suggest listing it on BaT (https://bringatrailer.com) as well. That's where you'll get the most money for something this unique.

Not that i will sell mine, and it’s a TJ non Rubicon.

seriously interested in what yours goes for.

Yeah I’m not sure what the market will be on these with the newer jeep ecodiesels that were available for a few years. It’s a very cool set up but the new jeeps are pretty comfortable lol
