So my drivers side door is stuck closed and will not unlock or open. I've pulled the inside door panel and manually actuated the various linkages, lubed the latch mechanism, done every thing possible to unlock the latching mechanism which interfaces with the striker loop. The door latch assembly is apparently jammed internally which is preventing the tab from moving to the "unlock" position either via the linkage or with all linkage disconnected via manually pushing with a screw driver. I'm familiar with the typical "door jammed door opening techniques" and have replaced inside and outside door handles / controls and linkages, etc. in the past (not my first rodeo).

Unfortunately I'm thinking as a last resort that I going to be forced to cutoff the striker loop post.

My question is has anyone had to cut the striker post to free a door that will not unlock? Is it possible to get to the outboard striker post with a saws-all or did you do it with a hacksaw blade. Once cut will the door freely open or will you have to contend with the striker loop still being held by the latch causing clearance issues / preventing the door from opening.

Have you tried taking the hinges off so you can expose more of the striker and maybe get some leverage on the mechanism from there?

Well I decided to cut the striker loop post. He's some info for the next guy with a jammed door locking mechanism.

You are going to have to use a hacksaw blade on the outboard striker loop post. Expect on spending about 30 mins sawing to get thru it as there is very little access and approx 1/2 inch of allowable saw blade motion. The Inboard loop is simple and quick with plenty of access. Once both are cut the door will swing open allowing access so you can remove and replace the door lock assembly.

Posts always go better with a few pictures:

This kind of blade holder work well

For anyone else who comes across this, I had a similar problem over here. @APC mentioned having removed all linkages, but I can't tell if they had also removed the larger, v-bent rod that runs from the inside of the exterior handle to the latch. For me, that turned out to be the key.
