Can someone please tell me this is a bad idea so that I can stop thinking about it?

Attach a crossbar to a set of cringey LED light bar windshield brackets and instead of installing lights, install amber cab lights in the traditional arrangement from trucks and Broncos in the 80s.

I guess you could install cab lights on a hard top but then they’d be removed with the top off. A crossbar bracket on a windshield mount seems like a practical alternative but I’m having trouble envisioning it and suspect it might not look as cool as I’d hope.

I google searched this concept and am not finding much. What do you think about this?

It's a bad idea. So is this...

Some years back, someone on here put those small 1/2" LED's at the top of the windshield frame.
IIRC, they drilled 3/4" holes to insert those lights with the supplied grommets.
And ran the wires inside the frame down to the hinge and then to the wire for the headlights.
It was a clean look but not for me.

Also there was a dude from BC Canada that had 5 clearance lights on the hardtop . Something like this.

Packaging can be an issue.

Stops tailgaters! Knew a guy in high school that had a little truck - a Datsun IIRC. He had a train horn facing forward, and a locomotive headlite facing backwards! Nobody tailgated him - at least not for long - and everybody got outta his way!

When I was a member of NAXJA (North American XJ Association) we had an forum member with the user name of Traindriver.
He was an engineer on trains for 25+ years and decided to install a train horn in his Jeep.
The blast that horn put out could be heard for miles.
Never did understand how he could tolerate that noise level when it tooted....
My hearing is not the greatest after being exposed to loud engineering machinery while in the USN and as a Plant Engineer as a civilian; I could barely tolerate the sound with fingers plugging my ears a 1/4 mile away.
