Hey everyone! Long time forum visitor, just recently turned member! I've been using this site to do work on my 06 TJ since I bought it back in 2018 with 40k miles on it. I wasn't into cars when I bought it but it was just too fun to drive and not buy. Since buying, I've been very interested in all forms of car culture and have been trying to cater my TJ to my interest for traditional Japanese street cars. Don't get me wrong - I love this car and have no intention of selling ever. She's only automatic so nothing too crazy but she's mine. I also just recently started working full time as an electrical engineer so I can finally start throwing some more money at the TJ after having to restrict myself for part of high school and all of my time in college. It's seen about 200 miles every week for 6 months while I've been commuting for classes.

Mostly kept stock under the hood and cab but looking into doing some bigger changes soon. Have done lots of small mods like LED headlights, side markers, and tail lights, recently replaced my old double din radio for a new one, installed some cheap amazon rock lights, and a lot of other mostly aesthetic mods. I've also replaced the previous tires for some 33" shoes, had the transmission rebuilt, replaced the soft top, and replaced side steps and bumpers. The previous owner did a 1" body lift which is the only way I am able to fit 33s under there. I love the look but hoping to get some height soonish.

Now that I've finally got a stable job, I've been looking into really getting my TJ off-road ready with a proper lift kit, comms, and recovery items. It's been my daily for about 7 years now so I'd like it to stay that way but really want it to gain some potential. Got a power steering cooler waiting to be installed and a cool air intake waiting to be changed back to stock (genuinely think the previous owner just didn't know any better when replacing that). Hoping to become more involved in the TJ community and would love to hear feedback on what modifications I should prioritize in terms of finally showing it some real trails.

Welcome to the forum! If that was me, the first thing I would do is either get a much smaller wheel / tire setup or get the appropriate size lift for those tires (which assuming those are 35s is going to be a 4" suspension lift and a 1" body lift).

Welcome from Dunwoody / 30338 in addition to the above, we’re riding July 26 in N.GA

Anyone is welcome, trails are relatively mild, with decent tires & recovery points you should be good.

Thank you! They are in fact 35s not 33s (last set were 33 and Im super forgetful). It currently has a 1" body lift from the previous owner so I suppose the next thing is that suspension lift. The cost for a good quality one doesn't excite me at all but I do intend on getting that done as soon as possible

Thank you for the invite! May be heading out of state for that weekend so Im unsure if I'll be able to go. If plans change at all, I'll keep this in mind!
