Brandon's Arles Blue TJ

Here's a new double beadlock wheel I'd never heard of before.

Not much cheaper than Hutchinsons though...

Sad part is that the Stazworks steel dual beadllocks are now just as expensive once you add the bead protection.... So why pay the penalty of that added weight?

Yea, and at least with Hutchinson they've been around for a long time and you can probably rely on them to stick around.

Yea, the only benefit to the Stazworks at this point would be the customization.

I've just been shopping a little bit just in case I had to go with a 8 lug rim. And there aren't many rim designs I like anymore.

I don't like a lot of the modern beadlocks. I like some of the Dirty Life like the roadkill and canyon and the Vision Manx. And the Raceline Monster. But that's about all that come to mind.

If you have to go 8 will you switch the 60 to 8x6.5 or the 14B to 8x170?

I really don't like the designs of most of them.

8x6.5.

14B is that already and I'd just either redrill the hubs myself or buy some already done.

Edit: I should say, Older 14B is 8x 6.5 same as 98 & older Ford.

Unfortunately nobody could ever put a number on it specifically. If you're talking a 300lb load out altogether, probably not. But if it's 300lbs of parts and tools alone before driver weight, passengers, water, camping gear, food, armor, steel winch cable, etc? Probably.

But again, it's going to be build dependent as well. You have air suspension and can adjust your ride height for weight. You also weigh less (about 16-18% less according to Google) 😉. Stronger axles and such all lead to being able to withstand more. I have a Dana 30 front and generally will have a front passenger and a child (with rear seat plus booster). I have to factor that weight into what all I can carry. We all just have to find that balance for ourselves.

I never really brings parts other than u joint and spare tire which has helped me twice. Even the u joint is iffy to me since most busted u-joints iv seen also take out the strap and/or yoke. Most people don’t seem to carry extra yokes. I carry a bag of tools that I tend to use when I’m working on it at home. I have replaced a steering gear on the trail but had to drive home to the gear and back to the trail which ment ditching my jeep which i didn’t want to do.

I'll add this to the discussion. 90% of the time standard beadlocks are just fine for what we do and there isn't any reason for anything else. Now I've never seen a inner bead pop off but I'm sure it happens. What I have seen is the inner bead burp air before when side hilling & you're aired down in the mid single digit range of air pressure which is why if I do have to replace my rims I'll seriously be looking at some dual beadlock rims.

Now what I like about those Traction beadlocks is that o-rings appear to be just a standard type which might be easier to find & cheaper too.

This was how I found out about those Traction wheels. I'm not a fan of the Pro Comp M/T tires..

Yea your story of leaving your Jeep in Tahuya is sketchy! But, that's something you would never carry so you've got to do what you've got to do.

Yea, I know they're way overkill for my needs! It's nice knowing that I won't have to worry about it, but also that if I ever were to choose to change, I could sell them for enough to get pretty much whatever other wheels I want.

That's a good deal, even with the Pro Comps. Could probably offload those for at least half of that and be into the wheels at a decent price. But hopefully you can just convert and keep the two sets you already have. I know you've got a bunch of spare parts for the Spyderlocks. Plus they're way cooler!

The two times iv had tires get cut on a trail was with beadlocks. Before no problems and two years without them no problems. Are they really necessary? 🤷‍♂️. Those look good though and nice to have.

Dang, my o-rings for the wheels won't be here until Monday the 5th. I was hoping they would be here in time for us to make a family trip before my wife goes back to work from winter break.

This was why I'd suggested you order o-rings before disassembling them.... Don't ask me how I know..

I think I'm pretty even...... If you can score a deal like Brandon? Heck YES....

Can’t wait to see it in person with all the new stuff. You’ll be climbing those rock hills at Tahuya in no time.

I want to try them out... I know there isn't much else there but Reiter is sort of the same way to me. But I'm spoiled with the trails I've got more local to me.

Haha yea, I should've just ordered them. But oh well.

Yours would be setup well for all of the hard stuff. The only one I can't speak on is Twin Climbs because I've still not seen anyone do it in person and the videos are hard to tell.

I'd figured mine would be OK too because they'd just sat for like 8 years.... NOPE... o-rings were toast and I'd put lube on them too.... Just gives you time to get other parts installed....

I don't think I've seen that many videos of people doing any of the rock climbs there really.

I haven't really gotten anything done besides that skid yesterday. I woke up sick on Christmas and spent all day in bed, then spent the next three days barely getting around the house. Finally went to work today but was struggling. I might try to do the brakes this week since it's already on jack stands. Would be a perfect time to do it.

I also need to do bump stops and springs so I can order shocks. But I can't do bump stops without tires.

I also ordered a new set of rear sway bar links for the 4" springs, but it turns out they're the same length as the ones on it. I ordered RJ so I may just go ahead and switch them anyway so I know what's on it. They were like $35 so it's not that big of a deal.

Hoping to get a shipment notification for my seats this week 🤞🏼

@Wildman here's a channel that has a couple videos on the obstacles recently. They've changed a lot compared to some of the older videos out there. In her video "Tahuya with Land Cruisers", that's the day I was out with my wife and we watched her take her rear-steer buggy up Olympic Mountain Fab "Austin's" climb.
