Couple questions about this top. We recently installed it on my son's '03 Wrangler X. Was a nightmare to install & the frame components were definitely not oem quality. That being said, it does not sit flush along the windshield header (shown below). Should it, and is there a fix for this.

Second question: Quadratec's website says it has a lifetime warranty but Bestop's website says only 5 years. Anyone know which it is?

How old is your top?

I have the same issue. I purchased my top new on 2020. It fit fine. I swapped it each winter for the hard top, & back to soft top in the Spring.

My top header started pulling up just like your pictures. I sent pictures to Bestop. They said it wasn't a warranty issue and I needed a new header.

I replaced the header. It was very tight, but straight initially. It has since warped to the same shape as the previous one.

I think the top is shrinking. It is almost too tight at this point. The top is in great shape except it is too small.

Bestop customer service hasn't been very helpful.

Is your top new?

That's disappointing. Definitely contact Bestop. It isn't right and based on my experience it will get worse.

Other than the shrink warping the header, my top has been great.

Please keep us posted on how they decide to make it correct.

I just installed mine a couple weeks ago to.

Can you take a picture of the outside?

I hate the frame! The sunrider feature is great but the twill sags in the middle when using the sunrider feature. I had to put a stick in order for it to look good.

Sliding the whole top off and on is a pain in the ass! I wish it was just like the OEM frame. I feel like it’s going to break soon.

Here's a picture from the outside, though it has gotten better as the top has loosened up a bit. One of the plastic ends that connects the rear frame to the roll bar bracket snapped in half during installation. Took over a week to get ahold of Quadratec support. They sent out an entire new rear frame.

I also had to trim the plastic pieces that slide into the rear corners so they would fit. Then realized you have to remove the plastic pieces if you want to put the top down. How stupid. I just took them out permanently which leaves the corners a little wavy. Why not just make the rear section of fabric the correct size so it doesn't need plastic inserts to make it stiff. Was also not impressed that none of the zippers had pulls on them. For $1700, I expected much better quality materials.

I never installed the white plastic pieces that slide into the rear corners because I thought they weren’t needed. Especially when sliding the whole top down. Much easier to store when they are not installed. Factory soft top didn’t have them so I didn’t see why they designed the top like that.

For close to $2k I’m not impressed with the soft top frame. It tweaks to one side when sliding the top on and off and the frame gets stuck when sliding the top back on. I have to get the top unstuck then go on the left/ride side of the jeep a few times. I found it easier getting in the jeep holding the header from the middle then trying to slide it up.

I’ll take picture of my set up when I get home.
For some reason that header looks different. Looks wider than the one on my soft top but I can’t 100% remember. What I didn’t when installed the top. I put the header on first without the top then drilled the straight bars onto them.
Not the best picture but it was the only one I found.

Will the fabric transfer over? If so, I like that idea & have seen a few frames in my area cheap.

Yea the top is the same. It’s no different than OEM. I asked Bestop to see what they will say and they said it will only fit with their frame but the top itself is the same.

I’m sure it’s the same top they sell under OEM replacement soft top.

What changed between these pictures. The top looks flush in one pic.

I think in the first one the rear corners were attached first when we latched the front. In the 2nd we latched the front first.

*I've owned 6 Wranglers (YJ, TJ, JKU) all of which have had soft tops (Mopar), so I'm not unfamiliar with how the soft top should be installed.

What I normally do. Install the header first but with this soft top we need to attach the frame with the sliding pins then latch on the header to the windshield. After that I latch the corners onto the tub.

Trektop Nx here.

I used to leave the corner stiffeners out so it would be easier to roll the side windows. Left the corners a little soft looking and floppy, but it was the price of doing business. Now, I I leave them in over the winter and remove them once it gets warm.

Top looks nicer..

I’m going to find a OEM soft top frame in the future and get rid of this one.

From what I've read about the Supertop, this is the way! Find a used frame (probably have to buy it with a worn out top). Then you can buy a RAT which will fit better than the Supertop.

I've had a twill supertop NX for several years now.
I did have an issue where I could see light coming through the header/seal at each side. Looking at the OEM seal I noticed there was an opening in the seal. I added pieces of reasonably firm foam inside the OEM header seal and this raised the seal to close the gaps I couled see light through.

To make the top easier to raise and lower I added some tubing to the front bow that could be slid over the hinges when the top was to be raised/lowered. It may have been schedule 15 tubing, but don't quote me on that. Anyhow, a roughly six inch piece fits over the bow, and slid forward allows the sunrider feature to open. Slid rearward, it makes the top a little less floppy and easier to lower the top fully.

This is disappointing as I have one of these sitting in my garage waiting to be installed. Isn't this the square back version? Will it still work with the factory frame, with the square back? I do have one of those laying around, so will use that if that's what you guys recommend.

I had some of the same issues with new bows/frame and top. I learned the sun is absolutely your friend during the install. I did remove and reinstall it about 4 weeks later, after it had some time to stretch. It all slides together much easier. And of course that plastic part broke on mine as well. Ordered some metal ones I found on Amazon. The front header sits better now after the last stretching. Bestop never responded to me about the broken plastic adapter.
