Are TJs safe?

Conversely, Americans are scared of life - hence the cradle to grave socialist-liberal nanny state (tm).

It's a wonder any of us are still alive... I don't need a nanny state running my life! Grew up with no seat belts, bike helmets, knee pads, elbow pads or anything like that and am still going!

Oh yeah played with quick silver, changed asbestos brake shoes, drank from iron pipes in the house and a garden hose in the yard.

^ all of what he said 🙂

I also drove the heck out of a Suzuki Samurai for 10 years . According to the media that thing should have killed me....lol 😂

The next thing that you'll tell me is you would sit on a Jeep in the middle of a pool of water and not have a life vest on !

Yes many are not alive. Not a lot of glory dying from any of those.

There's a difference between simple prudence and being scared of your own fucking shadow. I'm sick of it, I'm sick of the Nanny State, I'm sick of bullshit Nanny laws, etc, etc, etc. Insert rant here.

Honestly a TJ is not the best vehicle for a 17 year old. Best for a second or third vehicle. Get a dependable Honda or Toy or Sub and wait until out of school for a Jeep. They are easy to work on and fun to drive, but plenty of time for that later. D

When I was in high school I wanted a CJ3B, but never happened. Got my first CJ 30 years later and have had at least one (CJ, TJ, JK) since.
Patience, the Honda Pilot is much better for a while.

Yeah, you should have told that to me last year hahaha.

Seriously though, no regrets on the TJ. This thing has been fantastic. I love mine. As for saftey, don’t drive like an idiot. (Granted we all will at some point but…) The TJs are pretty sturdy vehicles, just don’t expect much for fuel economy. Also, I’ve not come across many people with a TJ out here in MB. Did see a guy with an older Cherokee on Saturday, was headed to some off-road event near Winnipeg I believe. His had 400,000+ km. If nothing else, proper maintenance and you will have yourself a unique, reliable vehicle, OP.

The question was "is this a safe car for a teenager" the answer is still objectively "No", regardless of how manly you might think you are. I forget I'm on a jeep forum.
