One of the rear drums on my rig is missing the parking brake spreader bar. (Like the one pictured below.) Parts stores seem to think TJs don't have these in their brakes, so they've been no help. I found a suggestion that it might be Dorman 21158 but I want to be sure before I order one. Also, is it safe to drive with it missing? I assume it will mainly make the parking brake non-functional on the side missing this piece.

That appears to be the correct part number:

https://www.oreillyauto.com/detail/...tive-suv-2000-jeep-wrangler?q=Brake+bar&pos=0

https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog...1,brake+&+wheel+hub,parking+brake+strut,10715

And you need a different parts store if that one couldn’t find a listing for it.

Thanks. To be fair, if you select 2003 Wrangler it says it doesn't fit. And nobody lists a brake bar for the 2003 Wrangler. However, one side had one and I believe it did belong, so both sides should have one. Don't know why nobody says that 2003 models have one?
