How long does it take to get warm can drinks cold, it seams when out on the trail we go through a lot of drinks. Also may pack a smaller one with ice and dry ice as I like ice with my Vodka around the camp

If you were closer or I was closer to you I'd take it. I keep saying I'm going to buy one but always come up with parts I need instead.
When on trips I usually have mine running the entire time so it's either plugged into the truck or plugged into the jeep and we add to it as we take things out. If you set the temps on the cooler the same or close to your fridge at home (~40F), it will take the same amount of time. I bought this cooler, and use it in conjunction with a Jackary Explorer 500 and a solar panel (when at campsite) or 12 v charging the Jackary (in vehicle). I was able to keep food frozen for a weekend of camping in south Florida summers with this combo.

Now that I'm down this rabbit hole. Soggy sandwich aside, I can fill my cooler with ice and leave in the trunk for a day hike or park on the picnic bench and hours laters, it's still cold. If I'm running one of Dometic types, will it maintain its temp, of does it really need to be plugged in on a regular basis (including overnight) to maintain temps those?
Don’t rule out Engel, I purchased an MT35 in May 2003 and it’s been running about 85% since then, a half dozen trips to Moab in 100 plus temps, about a hundred wheeling trips here in Alberta, across Canada, all over the PNW, hell, it probably has 100k miles on it and half that in an open top Jeep.
The only maintenance I did on it was to use an air hose to blow the dust about a couple of times.
It never missed a beat and honestly, I don’t think I would trade it for a new one.

No I was thinking that the cooler would cold already as it would be running all day. Then I would adding warm drinks into it as one cold one comes out add one warm one back in.
You keep them plugged in. It’s just like a fridge. They will warm up if you leave them unplugged, but if you don’t get into them they will hold temp for a long time. They also have battery protectors on them so you don’t run your car battery down. They are ingenious.

When we lived in Arkansas my wife had one of those fish badges on the back of her YJ, only it had shark teeth and said "bite me". She came out of Walmart one day to find that someone had peeled it off the back of the Jeep, broken it in half and thrown it on the ground behind the Jeep. I glued it back together and reattached it to the Jeep with a couple of dabs of windshield urethane.
