A Perennial Work In Progress

Other than notching the Savvy rockers to fit the existing front MC fenders, I don't think it would take much work. The only gotcha I could see might be a potential issue with the existing MC rocker nutsert holes. Knowing my luck these would be off enough that I might have issues with placement of the Savvy ones, i.e. some might partially overlap. This could be a minor or major annoyance, depending on how many did so.
I'm interested in how this will work out also. I'm debating savvy sliders and GR fenders some time in the future.

I sat down last night to order Savvy parts for the 1st phase of MC parts removal, starting with the items below.

- LJ Rocker with step
- LJ Tub Rub Rail
- Tailgate Armor
- Tailgate Valance
- LJ Full Corner Armor

Total price for the parts came to $1658.56, with what looks like a 5% discount. When I added the zip code for shipping, I was hit with a $399 shipping cost. I'm not mad at Savvy, they're at the mercy of the shipping companies, but I can't justify a 25% increase for shipping. I'll just have to defer doing any removal of the MC armor for now.

Yikes. Always hard to buy products when shipping is so much and at times at no fault of the company.

I’ve just started to look at selling my MC Fenders for hiline’s (GenRight). But seems I’m going need more research.

@Irun you probably haven’t thought about it much, but do you have a price in mind for how much your going to sell MC fenders? Are they aluminum or steel? Or your MC rockers?

Cleaned up the Jeep this weekend and drove it for the first time since June. I can't believe how nicely it drives.

You might call and find out if that is an accurate charge. I've suspected their online calculator is off. I can send a LTL freight shipment across the country for less than that. And that isn't me as a business, that is just me as a random individual. I Know a business will have better negotiated rates.

For personal reasons, I put a hold on any major modifications to the Jeep. However, I did finally get around to doing a test install of a TRE winch line, thimble, and thimble fairlead I ordered a while ago. As I suspected, when the thimble is placed on the thimble fairlead it contacts the UCF Extra Clearance bumper hoop. Fortunately, it only needs to drop down about 1/4", so I should be able to notch the two mounting holes in the fairlead mount and get it to fit.

The quality of the TRE line, thimble, and thimble fairlead is exceptional. The winchline even came with an attachment plate, attached to the line, and new screws to attach it to the drum. I went with an 85' length rope, which is perfect for my Superwinch EPi9.0 winch.

@Wildman gave me some inspiration, so I installed a few extra outlets in the garage. I also installed 4 extra ceiling light sockets, with receptacles. Amazon had 15% off on the lights below, so I ordered 3 sets of 4. The extra 48,000 Lumens should light up the garage nicely for my old man eyes!

Glad I could inspire you some as your rig is very nice looking. You've done a great job on it IMO and having a little more light to view it with can't hurt.

This is a case where one thing impacts another. I purchased a new TRE rope, thimble, and fairlead. When I went to install them, I discovered that the thimble wouldn't sit flat in the fairlead cradle, because it hit the hoop on my UCF Ultra Clearance bumper.

The fix was to elongate the holes in the winch plate and drop the TRE fairlead down 1/2", which I did. After doing this, I was able to get the thimble to sit flat, clearing the bumper hoop by 1/8". Now, problem #2. Since I lowered the fairlead, the winch plate opening for the rope was sitting about 1/8" to high, which meant the rope would drag across it, causing excessive wear. Next, I had to remove the winch, bumper, and winch plate.

I marked up the mount

Then went to town with a 40 grit flap disk on the grinder, and carbide bits

Did a mock up and all was good

Painted the winch plate

Now, I have to strip and repaint the two tone bumper. Black on the bumper and gray on the hoop

What was the heat gun for? To help the paint dry faster? Isn't it always amazing how when you do one thing it spirals into another thing needing modified to compliment the other thing you just did.....
Seems to be about how half the stuff on my Jeep gets done.

Yep. I've only got the garage at 60°, so I use the heat gun in between coats of paint.

This is definitely the way. All I wanted to do was swap out the rope, thimble, and fairlead. Now the front of the Jeep is in pieces, getting modified, and painted again! 😵

Finished sanding and repainting the bumper this afternoon. Definitely not my best work, but I'm learning not to be so OCD. I'll let the paint dry for a day or two, then assemble everything back on the Jeep.
