Was the rust grounding it to the magnets?

@Blackjack guesses it was corrosion between the brush holder and motor case. There was a ton of gray powder that came out of that area when I removed the cap. This is just a small portion.

I had to remove the front bumper to seal the cap to the motor housing and the motor housing to the drum support. With some tape you can mark it off so the RTV is a straight line and looks pretty nice. I forgot pics, so I’ll post some tomorrow.

Also needed to add a nutsert to the Flux bumper to have another support bolt. Turned out pretty good.

Suspect I'll need to do similar for my Skid Row steering box skid so I appreciate the pics!

Awesome! Glad you enjoyed it! 🙂 Hope TSO scored big for you guys.

The trackbar cleaned up good. Don’t even think the black bar needs any paint. I think I’ll paint the other end because most of the zinc coating is gone. Anti-seize for the threads, and regrease the JJ. May replace the Clevite bushing. Super happy. I really wanted one of the Currie bars because all the RockJock bars now require a bigger bolt on the axle side and have gone to a JJ there. All I wanted was a rubber bushing and that’s what I got. Crazy thing I was just looking to buy one about three weeks ago. I never did of course. I think this will handle the 35’s and beadlocks much better than the MC bar I have now. I already had to replace the heim once a few months ago, which is what started me thinking of a beefier bar. 🙂

I think the replacement rubber bushing for the Currie front TB is Moog K3147. I think I’ll get a backup just in case, but for now run the original. Apart from the obvious tells, I don’t know how to tell if a rubber bushing is good or bad. Appears fine.

TSO was nothing short of fantastic as always. You really should go next year! Really glad the bar is working. Thats interesting about the new rock jockey bolts and that was the major concern I had, the potential that all the frame side mounts were drilled out. But having the ild currie stuff they were normal size.

That one wasn't even on our radar, now it is. We've been missing really good Mexican since moving up here

Yeah, Mexican can suck here. We almost died for awhile. 🤣 We like El Rodeo in Cheney and Mole in Kendall Yards.

Got the Currie TB end cleaned up, self etch primed and 4 layers of top coat. The zinc coating was pretty much gone. This will help for a while. Might install the bar tomorrow or Tuesday. My week is looking soo good after Monday. Hopefully that will be much last class to teach this semester. Then it’s just grading.
