i recently bought 2000 TJ and need tire advice. jeep has 4.0 eng, 4" lift kit, 307 gears, auto trans, and has LT265/75/16 MT tires.
seems like it takes lots of power to run these tires, we will use this for mainly around town errands and a little mild trail,
no mud riding, some hwy use for short trips, what size and tread type would you recommend for this set up.
thanks

Little, very little donuts. 307 is the worst gear ratio.

But if the current tires are in good condition and you’d like to be able to run that size tire comfortably, with power, just have the Jeep regeared.

An AT tire

The Jeep will look ridiculous with those small tires and a 4” lift. Ideally you need 33’s to look right

I ran 35's on a 307 ratio and the 3 speed before I 8.8 swapped mine and it was pretty bad. I'm running a 4 inch lift also as you can see to the left.

29" tires with a 4" lift.

Needs some carolina squat!😆
I just had new boots and they are 29" on 15,s so i dont need a lift it looks lifted with the new tires "from a distance" lol
But honestly my TJ looks higher with the new tires, they say 29" on the sidewall but they are higher than the tires that were on it and the body feels higher seated and getting into it? maybe I should have checked my old ones they were probably running 10psi lol

I agree with JMT. 33” tires with 3.07 gears just don’t work at all. Honestly, I don’t know why they built Jeep’s with 3.07 gears in the first place. That’s what I have only because that’s what the Jeep came with when I bought it last September. The previous owner put on the 33s without regearing. I’m taking care of that next week. ‘Also getting chromoly axles & True Tracks front & rear ‘can’t wait!
’Sorry. I know your question was about tires, but you will never be happy with your Jeep as long as it has those awful gears.

They built jeeps with 3.07 gears because they were never meant to have 33,s or 35,s put on them "Simples". :)

Well ... lets be honest
Guy came here for a quick fix to his issue, with assumption to spend no more than $ on it.
Then he did a quick search for the solutions that were proposed, and realized that $ turned into $$$
In the process he stumbled upon the unsolvable vibration side effect which may or may not turn $$$ into $$$$ to "fix" it
While figuring out what axles he has, he came across rusted frame posts, did a quick glance underneath of his Jeep, and walked away with a look of horror on his face.

Today is the 22nd day since his post, that is in line with taking a week to process how did his $ fix tuned into $$$, then into $$$$, and then $$$$+$$. Probably a few sleepless nights, to make sure his Dana 35 does not explode for no reason in his drive way.
Another week with a bottle went into rejecting that he went from a $ hole into "proper fucked" hole
Add another week of slowly but surely coming into agreement with the reality, and liqueur running out.
Right now, he is likely running around the neighborhood in his underwear, while adding up cost of Jeep parts to bring his Jeep up to the speed with forum expectations.

Whether he makes it back here or not, before his wife finds out ... that is another story

Don't forget the Catholic Church has to be somewhere in there.

Today is the 22nd day since his post...
I'll be honest, I was thinking, "There's no way it's been 22 days since his post" which I saw was on the 4th. So I looked in the lower right corner of my monitor, and what did I see? I wish I did a screen shot but the first thing I saw was 3:07, right above today's date 3/36/2021.

All I'm saying there is the date is correct, the time not so good.

sorry i did post on the 4th with 1 response, then nothing else until the 25th! i had been out of pocket most of that time,
did not mean to offend anyone! thanks for the replies and pictures i am going to replace the m/t tires with some AT but going to stay
in 30 to 31" and see how that does. might be awhile before i can re-gear
