What's the worst mod you've ever done to your Jeep?

Imitation bead lock wheels. I went cheap and bought the Micky Thompson bead locks great wheel for the Mall parking lot and the concrete warriors that cruise my local streets. When we switched from trails to Rocks the wheels really took some abuse, the rocks just pulled the bolts out of the wheels sometimes I would be missing 3-8 bolts. That gets old quick and the rings looked like crap.
The worst item I have ever seen is the foot peg that uses the door hinge bolt to attach it to the jeep. Had a guy come out on a run and I had never seen them before I asked him what they were for ( I knew what they were for) and he said to stand on ? We wheel with some big guys I don't think I would want a 200 lb guy jumping up on my foot peg only supported by the door bolt. Never saw him again? Same run his imitation rock sliders bent so high up you couldn't open the passenger door, and his harbor freight winch tore the drum off the winch. Quality counts.

Not looking forward to this ( I also have cheap Velcro handles). Luckily, I park in the garage and don't use the handles much when I have the doors on.

I'm on my third Jeep. I did many things wrong in my previous two because I didn't have money, patience, and this forum (knowledge). Maybe my biggest mistakes were not having patience and wanting to mod my Jeeps without spending money, going with the cheapest options. I should have either, waited until I had the money, or not do the mods at all.
This time, I have a lot of patience, this forum (knowledge), and money...well, I still wish I had more, but it's enough to do one high quality mod at a time. So far, I have not regretted one single mod on my current Jeep.

You want 1541 shafts in the rear of your Dana 35. The axle bearing rides directly on the shaft. A 4140 doesnt have the hardened surface for this as the 1541 does.

Adding a CB radio and hardly ever using it on runs - most people use different frequencies

CB has been great for me. Most of the people I run with either have a CB or no radio. I haven't been on a run with people running rugged radios, etc.
Yeah, I usually swing my right foot in first, then put my palm on the seat and sorta lift myself up into the Jeep.
I figured the straps would be cool, and if someone else wanted to drive it would help them get in with pulling on the steering wheel. They broke about 2 months into the winter.

Bolt on 3 link rear axle bracket. Overly complicated , heavy and made doing any work to the rear end of the Jeep difficult. I should’ve went with the weld on I have now from the beginning.
X2. The group I wheel with everyone has a CB, and we all make sure we're on the same channel before hitting the trail.
My years of flying at night make me absolutely hate bright instrument lights. My LEDs in the dash do dim and I only use them on the lowest setting.

"Poor man's" transfer case lowering.
1. because lowering the transmission vs SYE is bad
2. nutserts were broken, so my friend "welded" bolt 1-1.5" couplers to the frame. (I was very poor at the time)
It worked, and everything was fine...
However, when I found out removing the "welded" couplers in order to install my SYE and tummy tuck just involved hitting them with a small hammer...yikes. Could have been a disaster if my skid hit anything when it was lowered. Luckily I wasn't going offroad in those days.
I'll also add the previous owner's lunchbox up front. It spun me out on the highway one day in winter.

Red instrument cluster lights for the win. I have them in my truck and the jeep now.
