Hitch mounted bike rack?

I have the Kuat NV Base 2.0, it’s pricy but really solid. The only downside is the tire hits the rack so rear access is diminished a bit.

It did not work well with the factory receiver, it’s much better with the one integrated into the bumper.

Are you bringing your bikes to Moab?
Yes, we're scheduled to arrive around Thursday, April 25, so we'll have a few days to ride Moab before everyone arrives!

I use a Yakima tray style rack for 2 bikes (can get for 4) because it is the best type of rack for my mountain bike and it has an integral locking cable system.

it does not clear the spare on it's own so I use a 7" hitch extension https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071J12YFX/?tag=wranglerorg-20

with a stabilizer so it does not rock back and forth.

I also use a locking pin for the extension, other wise, the locking function on the Yakima rack would be pointless because they could steal the whole rack with the bike on it. I don't have a current pic of the set up but if you want one, let me know and I can take one and post it.

I also just picked up a 1up rack and it has been perfect so far. I am running a Thule XT Pro on my other truck and while that is a great rack, the wide baskets interfered with the spare. The 1up tray is narrow enough that I can squeeze it on without needing an extender. There is not enough room to tilt the tack up but I have the single carrier so that is not necessary. I really like the stability and security of no extension and it is just a quality unit.

I assume a spare tire bike rack is a no go? I haven't messed with any fat bikes, just road and mountain bikes.

I've hauled a motorcycle on a hitch mount though.

Well, @ac_, you hardly have any choices for a fat bike 🚲 carrier! LOL

Well to update you all, I factored in everything and researched all of your suggestions, but decided on going with @JMT's suggestion. For the cheap bikes I have, it made the most sense. Plus it will work for me without buying anything extra on top of it. This will be versatile on all of my vehicles.

I appreciate all of the pictures and suggestions. I will tell you that wasn't my first choice so this forum is awesome!

I will try and update this thread when I get it installed and the bikes on it.

Thanks again everybody!

Ok got the bike rack, and it is installed and loaded up!

Jeep looks good too! Woohoo!

FYI, we ended up facing the bikes in the same direction and just staggering the mounts. There’s enough adjustability to do it this way too and avoid any handlebars hitting seats, et al. You may be fine, just wanted to let you know
