What did you use to paint your corner pieces?

Something silvery, like I did.

Just ordered some sharkhide in the aerosol spray can. I’ll try it out on some test pieces I have first. I have one more bumper to finish and ship before mine! I hope to get them both done tomorrow after work.

I will be installing the swayloc today (hopefully). Any tips or things to watch out for when installing it? I have had the front bumper on and off my jeep more times then I can count, hopefully this is the last time for a while.

I read through this huge sway-loc thread before installing mine, and all went well.

(edit - at least I think it was that one...)

Same. This post specifically:

Don’t follow the ORO installation instructions. 🤣

Install the bushings with supplied lube and big bar first. Get the odd shaped short arm and wedge it open while tapping it on the big bar with a rubber mallet. Then pinch it down with the supplied bolt so it won’t move. Then slide the big bar through the bushings. On the driver side wedge the arm and tap it on the big bar. Make sure both sides are perfectly even and use the bolt and nut to pinch it tight. Time for the small bar (torque bar). Grease the end with the hole (passenger side) and push it through from the passenger side. Wedge the arm again and tap it through. Use the bolt to pinch it tight. Finish the other side by wedging the arm and tapping it on. If everything is flush add your thin washer and zerk fitting bolt to the passenger side and tighten down. Add your grease to the zerk. About 2-3 squirts. You’ll see it come between the arms. Then the washer and bolt on the driver side. Set up your links to appropriate length for your lift.

Not too difficult when you see what’s happening. Thanks to Blaine for getting me to STOP looking at the idiot directions.

Love the looks of it. Personally would want it to be able to haul a small trailer like a m416 with gear in it. I’m assuming this one won’t cover the body lift gap either?
Same here. I haven't gotten my head around exactly WHAT will be towed, but I know I am heading that way.
Not interested in the BL gap covering or carrying a bike rack.

Do you thinks it would handle my jeep trailer? View attachment 550413
I am certain it won't handle your trailer. You should have the trailer shipped to me...
:p:p

I’ve been rethinking the hitch version. I know people are going to want to tow a trailer, self included.

I’m working on a hitch that ties the frame into a bracket sandwiching the rear crossmember. It’s basically a “hidden” hitch. I was trying to avoid that but this is the only way I see it being strong enough to tow with. It needs to be its own thing and made from steel unfortunately. Goal will be to keep weight to minimum but it has to do its job.

There will be two versions of the rear bumper. One with hitch and one without.

No, the front corner guards wrap around the bottom of the front bumper with another edge flange landing close to the tube crossmember. This helps the lower edge of the front bumper take a hard hit. The rear bumper will have corner guards, they will just be tailored to work with the rear bumpers needs.

These are countersunk now. Excuse the bad pics but it shows the return flange specific to the front.

I think what you posted is nice. I hit this corner on the regular. The big question for me is does it extend to the edge of the tub. I like the corner protection I get from having my bumper all the way out, but I may need to suck it up and get the tub armer to take advantage of a tucked rear bumper.

I do agree that it would be convenient for a single design to it both, but I don't know that I'll be servicing this item on the regular. I assume its going to last a while.

Hi @Fluxor , sorry if this has already been covered, but can you comment on your design and how it compares to the Savvy rockers and corner armor, like quantity and location of mounting points, material, backing plate location and size? What are your thoughts on a mini boat side version of your rockers?

Savvy rockers and corner armor would have been the next addition to my TJ, but I’ve all but given up on that. Kudos on stepping up and making quality parts where others have dropped the ball!

All you need to know is that @Fluxor has Blaine's blessing and approval for the designs. They are very nicely done and every bit as good as the Savvy if not actually better. If you wanted and were waiting for Savvy, go with Flux's stuff like many other (happy) forum members already have.
