Hello,

I've always liked the Grey or Black JK Rubicon wheels and have considered finding some take-offs for my 2006 TJ. I would purchase the 1.25" spacer/adapters to use with them. My hesitation, is that I consistently see many sets of these used spacer/adapters for sale on Craigslist, Facebook marketplace, etc., and wonder if there is a reason people are selling them. Do they use them and run into problems down the road...??? They say you need to check the adapters frequently to make sure they aren't loose. For those of you who have done this, do you find that they require frequent tightening, or are you running them with no issues? Is it more trouble than it's worth? I appreciate any input. Thanks!

Only people selling the spacers are those tired of seeing the Grey or Black JK Rubicon wheels on their TJ. :D

Just kidding, no issues with spacers if installed correctly.

I'm running them in the front because I have a TJ axle with JK wheels.

No problems if installed correctly. I did have a no name tire shop break the lug nuts on my adapters. So they can be a pain if you break them or a shop breaks them.

IMO not worth it just to run a JK wheel. I'd rather buy wheels for the TJ pattern and not have to use them. If running them to solve a problem, it's usually worth it.

I also wouldn't consider buying used adapters. As mentioned, the lug nuts on them can get broken.

😄 thanks! Your Moabs look really good on your Jeep. I’ll probably just go with a set of those from Quadratec.

My '01 has had the JK rims with 1.25" adapters for more than 2 years; the only thing I would suggest would be to get hub centric adapters over the lug centric adapters.

I've got a set of Spidertrax adaptors sitting in my garage. Took them off because I got new wheels and didn't need them. Never had any issues with them. My LJ had JK wheels on it when I bought it.

I don't own the Brute.
I do have an orange LJR with Moabs.
I also run 1" spacers, for clearance. No issues.
My next (oem) choice would be Ravines.

I have been using hub Centric adapters with jk bolt pattern wheels for about 5yrs now , 30k miles. No problems..

Agree with the above! Fletch2- What size tires are you currently running?
Thanks! They are 235’s. They look sort of small to me at times, although that pic doesn’t show it. I would like something just a bit larger, but not so large that they look crammed into the fender wells. That’s why I’ll probably go with the machined finish Moabs from Quadratec and 245’s like the Rubicon had from the factory.

Ah, that's what I thought. I figured I might buy some of those Quadratec Moabs at some point down the road. I swear they used to be $119 and sometimes under $100 on sale but now they are $189. Please post pics if you get them and the 245-75-16s. I would love to see it.

Another option I think would be good and would like to see is 16x8 black steel rims on those size tires. Looks like the 16" steel rims have 5" backspacing which would be the same as a stock rubicon moabs.

So I decided to get the Moab’s from Quadratec and 245-75-16’s. They look much better, especially on the rear of the Jeep, than the 235’s. They fill the wheel wells perfectly, and the look is exactly what I wanted.
