Whistlin Diesel gets 2 Skylines

Ha! See, I told you guys so. It's all in the name 😂 On a more serious note, that was the body style I had at about that power level. Very fun car and I really enjoyed it.

Ricer nut swingers are annoying though. That's where my screen name came from. We were parked and bullshitting one night at Lawson's between races and some younger Marines came up drooling and trying to dry hump my car (but didn't know it was mine). While they were going on and on about how awesome Skylines were and how nothing could beat them, I was down playing the car and finally started talking trash about Skylines. They got real defensive and started saying how this car could whoop the shit out of whatever car I had (lol) and how I didn't know what I was talking about. I finally ended the conversation with a very sarcastic "Bro, Skylines suck." and went inside. My other car buddies christened me my screen name that night.

I did break a transmission, a diff, and at least two axle shafts, but breaking stock drive train stuff at that power level on drag radials isn't exactly the manufacturer's fault, especially with the way I drive (just ask @Irun ). I can almost guarantee the cams broke from improper install. I saw it frequently. People not torquing cams down in the proper sequence snapped them all the time. That clutch thing turding the motor was nuts though. Never seen that and I had a triple plate clutch.

I'm curious, for those not used to seeing those cars, do they look "good" to you? I remember thinking they were very 80's looking the first time I saw one and kinda ugly. They definitely grew on me though. Kinda like my '75 Cutlass actually which got is own share of nut swingers in Japan.

The R32 Skyline never did it for me looks wise. I didn’t really care for them until the R34.

I was a big fan however of the S14 Silvia.

I had an S14 zenki for a little while in college. Not as fun as my NA Miata, but still enjoyable as long as I didn't fill it up past 3/4 of a tank... then it got a little leaky.

Ahh but you didn’t have the Kouki front end, is that what it’s called? I don’t disagree with you though. I’ve owned several Miatas, and those are more fun than any Japanese car I’ve ever owned. In fact, of all the cool cars I’ve owned, the Miata is the most fun.

Yeah, Kouki was the late model and Zenki was early model. I agree that the Kouki front end was way cooler! My plans for this one were Kouki front swap with a BN aero kit, however ballin on a budget was not working out for me lol

A friend of mine did a 350hp turbo build in an NA and it was absolutely wild! He probably had $25k into the car at least and it showed when you drove it.

Did you ever see the LS swap that Flyin Miata did? Car and Driver said that of every vehicle they’ve ever driven that Miata was the most fun of them all. I believe it too. I had a Hellcat and my NC Miata Club was more fun of her the Hellcat by far!

I'd kill *do bad things* for an LS Miata. One day it will happen.

Turbo LS will fix all that!
It would also get rid of the AWD which is a yuge minus. RBs are actually pretty bad ass motors. Mine was unopened with a stock head gasket and was north of 600hp. I beat the crap out of it trying to blow it up so I could install my built motor and never managed. I didn't try smacking cams over a rock or dropping a block on the hood though lol.

Miatas were always interesting to me and all my friends with one loved them. I did even check one out, but I quickly realized I am in fact in to chicks and decided against it (plus @ 6'2" I didn't fit). My buddy swapped an SR20 with a T04R on it in to one. The power was pointless and made the car impossible to drive. It was awesome.

One day, man, you have to write the list down :ROFLMAO:

Also, isn't the TJ the most fun vehicle you have owned? 🤔🤔

One day I will.

TJ is the most fun all around. Miata is the most fun to drive "fast"
FIFY 😆

Seriously though, I learned the fastest car isn't always the most fun when pushing it. My buddy traded his 800hp Evo 4 for a new BRZ. It came with freakin Prius tires on it from the factory. To push the Evo to the point of, well, pushing it, you had to go STUPID fast. The BRZ could hang the ass end out at much lower speeds and was very controllable. Much better for spirited gentlemenly driving on the street. No doubt the Evo would mop the floor with the BRZ at the track though.
