Apologies for the acronym-ridden title. . . . The donor engine came from my son's '09 Jetta (auto) which was deleted and had Malone 2.0 tune. The modded version achieved 45-55mpg and was a hoot to drive. I believe the OEM head bolts stretched/head lifted or the head gasket failed which lead to pulling the car apart. The issue was identified before overheating could occur. The car did not overheat. It failed the exhaust gas in the coolant test. I decided replace the car rather than repair it.

The TDI's modded form would be an absolute riot in a TJ. I don't want to take the '98 Sport off-line for this mod.

Selling as a package. Will split only in this order:

1. all used parts in one bundle
2. all new parts as a whole (after used parts are gone)
3. new parts separately (after used parts are gone)

Used parts from the '09.

• Assembled short block. 20k miles on oil shaft balancer installed by local VW dealer under Dieselgate warranty. The short block has been cleaned up with a needle scaler & brush. Haven't gotten around to painting it yet. The
• Cylinder head- passed pressure testing at the local machine shop
• OEM turbo manifold replaced 20k miles ago by local VW dealer under Dieselgate warranty
• ECU w/ Malone 2.0 tune. IIRC, the immobilizer is still on/active
• Whitbread CR TDI lower timing belt cover (installed) LINK
• Alternator w/ clutch pulley replaced ~10k miles ago, plus other front engine accessories
• Engine harness with "generous" portion of body/dash. I don't recall flush-cutting this at the firewall
• accelerator petal, instrument cluster, fuel injectors, glow plugs, etc..
