My 1999 Jeep TJ fuel gauge has not worked since I bought it ~5 months ago. After replacing the fuel pump it still does not work, however, the instrument panel test shows that the actual gauge does respond. Before I go and rewire the whole thing can anyone confirm that the only place the fuel level sensor wire goes is to the C103 connector and then to the gray PCM? I am fairly confident that I am reading the manual correctly but I could be mistaken.

If anyone else has any other ideas of why it might not be working I am open to trying other things. As far as I can tell the wire is in good condition, there is one spot that has electrical tape covering it because the wire is bare but not broken. The only other thing I can think of is cleaning the C103 connector and the PCM connections before rewiring.

I was wondering if you ever got this fixed and what you did to fix it? My gas gauge stopped working and I replaced the fuel pump and it still does not work. All of the wires look to be in good shape so I am at an impass...

I would do a continuity check between the PCM and the fuel module. You can also check the fuel level value in the PCM using a good scan tool.

I have seen numerous wire harness issues on the vehicle side of the fuel pump connector due to road salts including my own. Really hard to spot without a close inspection.
