Bronco vs. Wrangler

Ford said it's based off the Ranger platform. I believe the non-offroad, less hardcore, group model is a bit narrower, just like the wider rubicon axles on the JL lineup.

That would make sense. The 2.3L engine is in the Ranger. But I would imagine the 2.7L V6 set the width of the Bronco and there will be extra room under the hood with the 2.3L I4 option.

Like I said, why not borrow from their truck lines if they can. It should make some parts for the Bronco drivetrain easier to find since they sell millions of trucks a year with similar engines and transmissions.

They started to borrow from their minivan engines with similar transmissions! #@$^%&(*
FIAT in 2016 revolutionized the Renegade lol. Now they revolutionized the Scrambler to Gladiator ha-hah!

I think we are being threatened down to our core base.
Jeep people are afraid Bronco will take over.
We (TJs) will be history and that's a fact.
Just look at the Millenniums.
Our generation is almost over.
Heading to the museums.


With the advent of the new Bronco, I think TJ's will be come the new CJ's.
 
But you can see them more than 20 jacked up Broncos pile up by the mall and upscale neighborhoods.
The fact is they marketed these for yuppies and just watch this clip, it's brilliant!

That bottle opener is embarrassing, if you can’t find three or four places to open a bottle that’s not a twist off, then you do need an engineer to design one for you, also who wants to drive around with a full cargo bed of doors and no top? Where do you put your 6 pack of craft beer? Where do you store the top?

So what does that have to do with the Bronco using engines and transmissions from the Ford truck line? Did you expect them to design them from scratch?

it has IFS. I don't care if it has "17% more articulation than a stock wrangler". Stock wranglers don't go where I want to go. The decision to go with IFS is why this thing won't compete with a wrangler.

It already competes with the Wrangler.
I would bet 85% of wrangler drivers can switch to a bronco and not have to change the trails they run.

Not everyone offroads the same as you.

About a fifteen years ago, my brother-in-law found a '66 Bronco parked beside a barn up around Concrete, Washington. Powder blue with a white hardtop, 289 2bbl, and a "three on the tree". Absolutely rust free, and a one-owner rig. 100% bone-stock, right down to the uncut rear fenders. He struck up a conversation with the old guy who owned it, and eventually made a deal with him. Purchase price? $2,500.

I remember when he brought it home, he was just tickled at what a great deal he had gotten. He cleaned it up, rebuilt the carb, and put new brakes in it. Drove it around for about six months, and then some guy offered him somewhere around $5,000 for it, which he accepted. Bet he wishes he had kept it, right about now.

85% of Jeep owners could ride on the same trails in a Ford Escape.

I've seen the Ford Bronco videos and most of their driving is on dirt roads at high speeds. Reminded me of high school.

It's going to be fun watching an independent review with similarly equipped vehicles. Not those from Ford or Jeep.
