What did you do to your TJ today?

Finally, off with the top.😀

And in other news, I was able to identify where I'm going to stash the inverter (strap it to the HVAC duct under the steering column) and found out my "cautious optimism" regarding the rain leak was misplaced. Didn't leak a drop in a storm, but a mild drizzle produced water on the driver's side floorboards again. Time to arm my wife with a spray nozzle with me in the Jeep...

Today hubby and I made a rear deck. I made it have a folding rear piece so I can fold that back when the windows are all in, and still be able to sneak my uppers between the rear window and the deck, so they will sit on top of it. :D So it is going to be nice to be able to store the uppers on top and still be able to use there drawer, and on the days I don't take my uppers with me, I will still have piece and mind that my stuff is secure. Well, once we figure out a latch to keep the rear piece down. Going to figure out some sort of hook that I can hook it to the drawer, then shut the tailgate and lock it. Then no one will be able to open it up. :D

There is a little gap but I could barely get my arm past my wrist down the space.

Put eye bolts to hook the bed web too so I can hold my uppers on once they are on the deck, that and anything else I want to haul up there.

Best part about this build is it was free. :D A friend had given us the wood a long time ago, the piano hinge my hubby found at work, and the eyebolts were found at his work also. :D Saved me 650 bucks because I was almost going to buy that Slipstream metal cover. :D This one is much better and price was right. :D

While we were making it, the Jeep was sitting in the sun. One of my newly acquired rock chips decided to run. Now I will have to break out my vinyl sticker maker and make some little Jeeps to place along the crack. LOL

The new handles and mirrors came in a few days ago for the set of half doors I picked up, finally got around to working on them today. That damn rod for the locks on the inner door handle was a huge pain in the ass! After much rage, cluster f bombs and a trip to O'Riely's for a replacement fastener I prevailed. Need to get a few crusty/rust spots addressed, need the locks changed, but over all they are looking good and now I can actually use the handles

You should have thinned down the purple paint and made purple stain!
That would look killer (do we still say that?)
Nice work.

Is it fall in Cali, or are you a vampire?

It's not fall, I'm not a vampire and I don't care for near 100° temps. That and I haven't had the top on for the last eight months or so. I painted the interior of the top satin black and never put it back on. I forgot how much I despised the dirty beer cooler look of the factory top's interior. The top and doors come off in a matter of thirty minutes even with my home-brew tie down/lifting sling hoist.

When I ran half doors I disconnected the rod on the inner lock. That why I could lock them with a key and no one could reach over the door and unlock it. Theft protection.

Installed the knuckle repair kit @mrblaine sent me because I cross threaded a caliper bolt last weekend installing his magic brakes.

And got some help cleaning surface rust off some parts prepairing for the winch install.

Not to sound like an over-protective dad... But she should really tie her hair up, tight.
Knew an adult professional female woodworker that literally got scalped by a drum sander.
But cool gettin' the kid involved. (y)
