Novak Conversions Jeep Wrangler TJ engine mounts

What did you do to your TJ today?

I'm probably going to have somebody else do this - its a simple enough job, but messy, cramped without a lift or pit, and its heating up here in Florida. I may change my mind after I call a couple of shops though.

LOL, you might. When I did mine, I thought to myself that it could be costly to have a shop do it.
 
Mine is a Summer Jeep so the heaters wouldn't be needed. But what did that cost you if you don't mind me asking? I know upholstery is not cheap.. Was it cheaper for you to go that route versus. seat covers?
It wasn't cheap but the old seats were in really poor shape, only thing holding it together at the time was a seat cover haha. If I remember right it cost around a little over a $1000 for the front and rear seat
 
Replaced my leaking valve cover gasket. I've had some oil drips between the oil pan and trans. I noticed it was visibly wet leaking down the back of the cylinder head so I am hoping that this will be the fix. I'll give it a few days and hope I won't have to pull the oil pan and replace the rear main seal. I also ordered a set of 5 new Dick Cepek DC-2s that I have been eyeing for some time. Can't wait to get them on.

I need to change my valve cover gasket, Just curious, did you use any gasket sealer?

@Cooz always FelPro gaskets. Came with the grommets @Fonz54 mentioned. Ordered from RockAuto.com The job took just over an hour, most of it spent trying to remove the wiring harness from the plastic housing over the back of the valve cover. I didn't have any issues with the heater hoses as others have mentioned.

I just did the same, finger crossed 🤞🏻 And removed the snake oil CAI the PO put on then installed the stock air box.

I also added a rubber bumper to my hood so it doesn't make me cringe everytime I rest the hood on the light bar.

@U8MYDZT nice, I was never a fan of cold air intakes. The hood bumper is a good idea, I'm new to Jeeps and I loved being able put the hood all the way back to the windshield!
From what I understand the CAI filters are not very good at keeping the fine particles out of the engine. There is a study out there that shows just how ineffective a K&N style filter is at actually keeping dirt out of the engine. Sure it flows well, but doesn't do its primary job correctly and that's to filter the incoming air.
 
Cleaned the idle valve and the throttle body and idles a little smoother. Got the outline done for the tube fenders for the weekend install.

Before, during, and after pics would be great.
If the weather allows. I'm giving myself a full day just in case. The current fenders on the Jeep are very rusty. Probably a combination of the average TJ cancer and the poorly applied bed-liner on them. I want to clean up and reroute wiring and rust proof as I go. Have an idea for the side marker and need to see if I can stretch the loom under the battery trays. Fingers crossed.
