Novak Conversions Jeep Wrangler TJ radiator

What did you do to your TJ today?

Wall, I've been cleaning the frame for past few days now... it all looked good till I got to rear end... hole about 1"wide... afraid it will get much bigger if I'll keep scraping it.... desicions desicions..... ugh

Installed CB today. Fabbed the chinese cup holder passenger grab handle mount to hold the Cobra and then cut some bar steel down for antenna mount, powder coated it and installed with grade 8 hardware and rubber dampeners to protect the tailgate paint.

Just need to connect the power and tune it 👍

Mine is a Summer Jeep so the heaters wouldn't be needed. But what did that cost you if you don't mind me asking? I know upholstery is not cheap.. Was it cheaper for you to go that route versus. seat covers?

x2. Would love to know more about the seat covers. Those look nice!!

Installed the Swag Off-road drop down tailgate.

Pretty straight forward install, but if you're reluctant to drill a bunch of holes, this is one you'll want to avoid.

Also installed a set of JKS Quicker Disconnects. Hadn't planned on these, but a buddy had them and asked if I wanted them, so, here we are.

You know you're pressed for time when you don't bother blasting ALL the mud off, but just the area you're working on 😂

Changed the thermostat and took the pooches for a ride. The Aussie is four months old and the terrier is 12 years old. They both love riding around. Hoping to take the Aussie with me on some backcountry trips and hunts across country, he's gonna spend a lot of time in the Jeep with me if it works out 😂

If I were you I’d see how much rust I could rip off that hole with your finger. It’ll tell you how compromised that area of the frame is. Better to find out how soon you need safety caps. Also better to find out in your driveway than on the highway

Before I order the wrong parts, does anyone know the part numbers for the two valves on the top of the valve cover (PCV and CCV I think?) for a 2006 Wrangler? I did a search and I've seen that the back one has a small hole in the valve but then I read that 06 is different and doesn't have a small hole, it's similar to the front.
It depends on which source you look at for the '05/'06. Long story short: I came to the conclusion that most of the sources are flat wrong, and that the '05/'06 takes the same back elbow as the rest. Why? Because mine was idling at 1200 RPM, taking 2 or 3 seconds to come down to even that from 1800 or faster. I had to special order the elbow from Rock Auto because everybody local only had the front/through elbow. Now the engine idles and revs correctly and isn't sucking an incredible amount of air through the crankcase.. Mechanic at the used car place I bought it from went down this primrose path with the results I observed.

edit: Its CCV on this engine, not PCV. No check valve, just a little orifice in the back elbow, 60 mil diamter from what I've read.

Did a bit more painting on the Jeep - and confirmed that the oil pan gasket will definitely need to be replaced. In the meantime, I just won't park it nose down. I was already planning on replacing the rotten spare tire and rusty spare wheel - in fact, a matching OEM wheel is slated for delivery Thursday - I'll need to pick up a used tire similar to the street tires already on the Jeep to tide me over "for now" until I'm ready for bigger tires and the 2" lift.
Anywho - good thing I had the wheel on order with plans to off the rotten tire, because I went out this afternoon to lock the Jeep up, and found this:

Not really surprising, it must have made a nice pop when it let go, but I didn't hear it! The tire had about 23 lbs air in it when I first inspected it, Goddess alone knows how long it had been since it had had the full 40PSI in it, but I aired it up and it held, to my mild surprise - till now! Now I gotta figure out how to get rid of this thing! I'll see if the garbage here will pick it up on Thursday - they'll take just about anything.

When you change the oil pan gasket, go with a Fel-Pro gasket kit. Part number OS 34308 R is what fit my 2006 4.0. It's a really good kit that comes with everything you need. On my '06, I had to disconnect the cats from the manifold and disconnect the other ends end of the exhaust from the main cat and move it out of the way in order to drop the pan. The bolts that hold the cats to the manifold were the hardest hardware I've had to remove from my Jeep so far. Liquid Wrench didn't help at all. I put a 50/50 mix of Acetone/Automatic transmission fluid on around midnight. At 8:00am the next morning, they came loose like they were never even tight. What I thought was a rear main seal leak was clearly a messed up oil pan gasket on the back of the pan, so I didn't touch the RMS as there was no sign at all of it leaking. While you're in there, you can look up from the bottom and see your OPDA and cam gears and see if you have any abnormal wear. Mine looked good and only had minimal wear in the center area of the teeth. Check the resources forum for factory service manuals and look up the oil pan gasket installation. I think it told of certain areas where the gasket goes that you need to put some RTV. Like in corners and such. It's been barley over three years since I changed my oil pan gasket and I've been leak free since.
