With all the salts that are applied on the roads in your area; hope the bolts for the trac bar come loose easily.
Probably time to apply some PB Blaster before attempting to loosen them.
To make it easier.... the taper for bolt on the tie rod end of the trac bar can be loosened by smacking the old tie rod with a ball peen hammer.
I’m wondering if I should leave it as is as I have to work tomorrow and if I cut the bolt on the axel side and can’t extract the rest of the bolt I’m fucked
That’s what I just did but I can’t get the flag nut out so I’m shoving it to the side and just going to buy a new one ....I've had that bolt so bad I had to pry between the bushing and each side of the bracket, cut the bolt on each side to slide out the end of the tracbar. Remove the flagnut from the back of the bracket and then install a new bolt and flagnut. Not fun, but it was necessary....
I meant to write bolt but that long one actually does the trick and I have a nut to fasten it too from back ....I gave up —everything is installed but the axel side ....I’m thinking this side should have been installed first no? Because I can’t for the life of me get that hole flush with track bar ?Without being able to tighten the bushing end properly you are asking for trouble...
The tracbar keeps the differential centered under the body and when you turn the steering wheel the body will move a little side to side depending upon how much play there is in the bushing end.....
SO.... I wouldn't suggest it...
Wiggle the steering wheel mam.I meant to write bolt but that long one actually does the trick and I have a nut to fasten it too from back ....I gave up everything is installed but the axel mount ....I’m thinking this side should have been installed first no? As you turn it , the bar will move one way or the otherWiggle the steering wheel mam.
The alignment is off now that's why the bolt hole doesn't line up... You will force the axle back to center when you get the holes lined up.Won’t that throw the alignment off or this only applies for adjustable tracbars?
Also. has Anyone ever used a bunch of washers at the back where the flagnut goes with a nut using a wrench or ratchet ? I can’t seem to find a new flagnut so I think I’m just gnna get a bunch of washers and a nut and hold it in place and tighten from the head ?
also. Lol. What’s the size of bolt for that tracbar/nut?
Well no....while removing the old tracbar while I was prying the hell out of it I bent the mount a bit lol so I was trying to bend it back into place but after installing the balljoint side it won’t line up....I guess I need to remove the balljoint side and start from the axel because you can move the balljoint aroundThe alignment is off now that's why the bolt hole doesn't line up... You will force the axle back to center when you get the holes lined up.
The frame size bolt is a 10 mm x 1.25 coarse I think ... But I'm not sure on the pitch... Take the flag net with you that came off of it and you'll be fine.
