What did you do to your TJ today?

I dispise how much engine noise dampening my L5P has. If I keep it long enough to be near the injectors, the heat trapping foam is coming out. It's not only purpose is to dampen noise so those hoidy toidy people who don't want to hear a problem before the CEL comes on.

Solution:
Delete it and install a hood stack😉

Hood stack will never happen.

Disappoint but not surprised🤣🤣

I hear you. Before I bought my '85 300SD, I owned a '74 240D, and learned to drive on a '71 220D - same engine family. The 220/240 had no sound deadening, the 300 has a ton of it. I could hear the valve train "floating" (camshaft neither being pushed nor pulled) by listening to the engine - can't do that in the 300.

I'd seen some questions about the position of the B&M short shifter. I'll try to dig up that thread, but this is mine with the Barnes no-lift bolt on skid, no BL, no MML.

Plus with a large McD coke. Seem to recall someone asking about a giant gulp or something.

Looks good. I love the B&M on my AX-15. I only ran the B&M knob for a bit before going back to the stock knob though, the stock one just felt better and not as huge.

That was my inclination too. For some reason the stock shifter knob is buzzing when you tighten the locking nut and this one isn't. The B&M knob for the NV3500 seems to be the same diameter as the NV3500 knob. I'm going to see if I can find a leather washer to put between them The ones I have are too small, but they work good in this type of situation.

Edit- ended up finding a neoprene washer, nylon washer and locking washer that did the trick.

Got the wires back together but still won’t crank. I’m getting power to the starter relay. Fuel pump kicks on. I took the bottom off the PDC to check all the connections there and everything is good. Guess I’ll have to wait for the wife to get home to turn the key for me while I do some more troubleshooting. Time to study these wiring diagrams and hope for an epiphany. Why is it always winter when shit hits the fan? Lol

If you are getting power to the starter relay but it still won't crank that sounds like a starter issue. Maybe coincidence? Are you getting power at the starter from the relay or just to the relay itself?

I’m going to do some more testing today. It was cold and getting dark yesterday evening so I stopped messing with it for the night. The starter was replaced three years ago but I need to see if I’m getting 12v at the starter.

Replaced the center tie rod end. Also installed my centramatic balancers. Liking them so far! They are only noisy at low speeds and with my kilmat it’s hardly noticeable. Also replaced the rear trac bar bolt and discovered the upper bushing is bad. Front diff had a small leak, retightened the bolts on the cover and negated that. As usual ripped a rump trumpet in it to remind it who’s the boss.
