Hi all replacing all seals ball joints and wheel hubs on front axle does anyone know where I can get Dana 30 Axle guides for a 2003 TJ

Thank you

Never used them. I just slide the axle shafts in carefully. It naturally goes in when the splines align.

Yes, I understand it could be done like that I just want the extra security it will not hit sides, especially on the longer side..

That being said do they make them for the Dana 30 TJ?

Its my first attempt at this kind of job so I want any advantage I can use. If I have to wing it so be it.

Thanks for reply
Happy New Year

I don't think you're gonna be strong or reckless enough to hit the side of the tube with the axle and damage anything

Pretty much everywhere has them - rock auto, online though autozone, advance, jeep dealer, quadratec, ebay. Some are crown versions and usually anything they make isn't very good but hard to screw up plastic rings. Bet it would be a good 3D printer thing. Shipping is the bummer though for two little plastic rings. (Or do you need 4? Looks like the JKs come with 4)

I'm in the same boat. I want to order these before I do my seals to keep debris out when installing. Seems like a good idea. I tried adding them to my big order for front end steering/suspension on Rock Auto but then it caused my order to be split in two shipments that cost way more.

From what I read the Jk has upgraded Dana 30 which is a different diameter. If you read description it states for 2007 - 2018 whatever if they would fit the tj i would think they would mention that

I think they will work. Everything I can find online says the axle shaft OD and axle tube ID are same for the TJ and JK Dana 30.

I just ordered 4 of the Crown ones from quadratec. $2 each and $6 shipping.

Also available for $4 each from Autozone.com and free home shipping which saves a few dollars if you only want two of them.

I was a little paranoid about this the first time I did it, and I can safely say you're overthinking it. But in order to make it ever so slightly easier, I have stuck a long screwdriver down the tube and then sort of pried up on it to lift the end of the axle shaft to help guide it in. But it's completely unnecessary. Just don't bang it down there like an absolute caveman. Honestly its like prom night. Just move it around until you find the opening.

Or get you a long handled brush and wipe out the inside of the tube I guess?

Please let me know if they work. And what part number you ordered

Yeah, it's a curse I have ..I spend a lot of time figuring worse case scenarios on any project I do ..

I don't think it's being paranoid. I wonder how many gear/bearing problems are caused by debris getting in during an axle install? None of us would chance sticking the engine oil dipstick down a rusty/dirty tube to get it into the engine. I don't see how this is any different. Any dirt or rust that gets in the gear oil can't be good.

Maybe some people have the skill to thread the needle without touching the sides of the tubes? In previous work, I've sort of tried to keep the splined end toward the top of the tube thinking it is cleaner up there but still not good. $15 to prevent getting debris inside the gears is worth it to me if it works. I will update if the guides fit!

True to google searches these days I get conflicting answers as to the diameter of axle ..

Waiting for your experience.. When do you think you will know.. I'm thinking tube is same worse case I can file down inner tabs to fit...
