Piss & Moan Table

My sister uses the refrigerator my parents bought back in the 80s.

I bet the old one from the 50s my grandparents replaced with a larger one in the 70s is still out there running somewhere.

Now the salesperson said buy cheap, because whether cheap or expensive they all average around 7 years.

Yea - I wish Speed Queen make them also...

This is what 30 years of washing machine use does to 2/3 of the suspension springs and their retainer clips. I'll take the actual wear and tear of 30-year-old mechanical parts over electrical (motherboard) failure after 5 years any day!!! Apply that same philosophy to my vehicles too, thank you...;)

I just had to replace the glass lid on our Whirlpool machine. The plastic frame cracked and would not seat correctly to activate the switch. I bought it at Lowes about 10 yrs ago for $150 because some yahoo hit the side with a forklift and they wanted it gone before the manger found out. A hydraulic jack and a BFH straighten it out. That side is up against the dryer and not seen. The new lid cost $250.

Going to need a new washer, this one is banging wall to wall on spin, replaced the 4 shocks and still does it. Could not get the drum hub off to replace that. I would love a speed queen but will not likely be in the house long enough to realize the longevity.

Ok - so take it with you when you move?

Data point: I paid $1k for mine - its real easy to pay more and get less. Or just buy a used "whatever" for $50 and call it good.

I would but our next move will be down south, don't want to bring much of anything. Even if I did, I would have to replace it here with a new when we left.

Just so you understand, if you come "down south" past VA.

We don't care how you did things where you moved from.

We don't care how good it was where you moved from, because if it was that good you should have stayed.

You can't run for any political office till you have lived "down south" at least 50 years.

Lastly you must learn the language, IE; over yonder, Y'all, grits(yes God's gift to man), every soft drink is a "Coke" then the waitress will ask if you want Coke, Dr. Pepper, Sprite etc.

Naw I'm just poking fun at ya. 🤣 🤣 🤣

You can sell a house without a w/d. They took them with them when they sold my current house

not typically done in NY

I have no problem with any of the above, there are many reasons I can't wait get out of here, political, $16K in taxes, $7K in electric, high insurance rates, most of the people.

Dang that's high freaking taxes and electricity...........

Here when you turn 65 you pay no more property tax, school tax ........

Where we are if Dad had to pay his taxes would only be $300.00 to $400.00 per year. Our highest power bill last year was $3xx.00 for one month. Normally $100.00 or less per month if we do our part.

There is no way 800$ in W/D will discourage sale of a house that costs like $500k

(Property prices here)

Washer/dryer aside - as who cares - but we had to do something about the stainle - I mean STAINLESS STEEL APPLIANCES that were in the kitchen when we bought this house. Former owner must have been an HGTV nutjob...

Stainless steel or all black  , we have a mixture, Stainless fridge and black stove and dishwasher.

I don't know which is worse.
