Looks like they wanted to compete with the TRE snatch block. But, 3.2 lbs is quite a bit heavier than 2 lbs.
💯%

I think my obsession with vehicle weight isn't a secret...

Edited to ad: The pound saved in this case is a two-fer: 1) Vehicle weight, and 2) Projectile weight, if the shackle securing the snatch block fails.

In addition to the extra weight, F55 missed several small aspects of the elegant shape and form from the alleged source material while piling on their own cluttered brand identity.

Hopefully this leads to more competition in the lighter snatch block market. As far as I am aware it's TRE, F55, and those little "slip" rings - though I haven't looked in a good while since my old TRE is still on the top of the pile and I hate spending money on the same thing twice.

I have used my ring twice so far and it has been adequate

I've got one of the "new" TRE snatch blocks so I'm not looking to buy another one either but this had popped up in my FB feed and thought it was worth posting about.

Since rope has become more the standard over cable you would hope/think more vendors would follow suit to make more light weight snatch blocks.

I have two different sized rings also for those times I'm doing a multi angle recovery.
