I was in town this morning and saw a Wrangler TJ sitting in front of an auto detailer. It had a fine cargo rack on it. I stopped to ask about it. The owner was not there, so I Ieft a note asking where he had it made with my contact information. No answer yet, but I took some photos and am looking around to see if I can find somebody to fabricate it. Problem up to now is that nobody has the equipment to bend round tubing this way. If I can get this made locally, I don't think I'll need that XJ that I have been whinging about in another thread.

Here are some photos of the rack. Just thought some of you might find it interesting.

Appears to be a version of the Gobi Rack.

It is, but it's all of one piece. That's why I figure it had to be fabricated locally, or at least within a couple hundred kilometers from here.

There are good smiths in the area that can do some amazing work. There is one in my little village who I am certain could do it, but he is backed up right now with work and does not have the tool to bend the tubing. This dude builds beautiful cattle boxes for 2 and 3 ton trucks and I have never seen him look at a plan or a drawing.

I'm wondering if something like this could be built with square tubing.

My only other option would be one of the "chinesium" ones from MercadoLibre (Latin American version of Amazon) and they run nearly $1,000usd here. I'm pretty sure I could have this made for no much more than those if I can find the right person.
