Hello, I would like to remove the AC compressor.... because the bearing in the AC compressor is already whistling very loudly and will probably break soon.
Can someone please send me an Amazon link for a non-ac belt/with power steering? My Jeep is running in Hungary and there are no spare parts for Jeep here. I have to order everything through Amazon. Unfortunately, RockAuto is too expensive for me, including shipping.
I found this - it should fit and work, right?
Rockauto
Effective Length (MM) from 2004 to 2006 mm

Have any of you ever converted this? I'm grateful for any advice or suggestions.

Mány thanks, Edgar

60790 is the Gates/Dayco part on Rock Auto. My AC clutch howls on my 97 so I did it...but I didn't pay attention to the part number...just asked the guy at Napa for a non AC belt.

I consider my deletion a temporary deactivation.

I need to figure out how to replace the bearings in the clutch. If I can't do that I need a vacuum pump and gauges because every AC shop is town is staffed by idiots and have failed me.

Fun tip: The last digits of most belts is the length of the belt in inches or in some cases, in millimeters. Makes it easy to find alternatives, or if you are running accessories with larger or smaller pulleys than stock.

Greetings from the USA and welcome! Why not fix it? No need for AC in Hungary?

This is relatively expensive, as air conditioning is relatively rare in the older cars that are common in Hungary. There's actually a lot of junk on the road... Actually, air conditioning isn't necessary anyway – in summer, maximum temperatures are around 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit), so it's more of a Mediterranean climate – and air conditioning isn't necessary for a Jeep convertible either... Hi Mac, I hadn't even thought of that - yes, of course - that works too. I'll do it that way for now. YES, Gates K060790 should fit - I'll order that.... THANKS for the tip.
Is the air conditioning compressor not rotating? – I mean, isn't the V-belt rubbing against the pulley from below... or is there enough space for the air conditioning compressor to stop rotating?

Best Regards, Edgar

No, the compressor is not spinning. It is bypassed by the shorter belt. Be sure to find a belt routing guide for non-a/c.

Hi Mac,
Excellent idea. I'll leave it like this for now during the winter... I'll remove the A/C in the summer. Works great. ACDELCO 6K790
