What did you do to your TJ today?

Lots of Cornish miners emigrated to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan (the U.P.) to mine copper, and brought the pasty with them. Every time I get back to the north part of the mitten, I’ll ask at the party store “who makes the best pasty around here?” and grab a few for the freezer.

Yoopers (denizens of the U.P.) will tell you to eat it with ketchup, but I like ‘em with beef gravy.

This place is close, I’ve had their pasties and can confirm they are U.P. quality. And they will ship!

Have you had a Pasty ? (Both sides of my moms family were from Cornwall and were hardrock miners ). They are fantastic , especially when it was food made for poor people eating where they were working.

I'm born and raised in on the border of Cornwall and Devon... Pasties were my staple diet....my Auntie used to make them as big as a dinner plate (traditional size) and slow cook them in a coal oven...... I missed her cooking.

haha Howdy cuzin'....

Back in the early Colorado gold mining days , Cornishmen would speak up for a new miner trying to get hired on . " Oh that's my cousin Jack from Cornwall he's a great hand " ! So many in our area were all cousin Jacks or Jenny's ! Almost all of then actually met after the new guy was hired . It was a tight group of folks that work hard together !

haha I didn't know that, love it.
I have a few tin miners in my family tree from way back. They were as tough as old boots back in the day. (On a side note, Cornishman are usually not very tall either haha)
