Toyota lights on your TJ! Cheap, quality LED alternative

I ordered mine directly through the local Toyota dealer because every on-line source wanted like $90 for shipping. Even through the dealer they were only $23. When I got them I was very happy with the quality of the kit - that wiring harness would be $200 most places. Installed them immediately and have been very happy with the kit. (This was a year and a half ago.)

Thank you! I haven't checked shipping yet, if it's nuts I'll check locally.

Let me just say, don't hold your breath, .... I have had them for months and still haven't installed them......... to say procrastinating is an understatement :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

OK, so you're like me, I get it...... :)

Edited to add:

I may just order a couple sets and throw em on the shelf, as I won't install em immediately either.

This thread is getting old, but I just found it and googled the part number, these things are $16? for both sides? Really?

https://toyotaparts.lakelandtoyota.com/oem-parts/toyota-headlamp-assembly-8111060p70

I think that's cheaper than buying two sealed beam headlights..... What am I missing?

Yep, that's the real price. I shopped around and found a dealership in Florida that shipped to me in Arizona for around $12, which made it cheaper than me driving to the dealership and paying their $5 pickup fee + the cost of gas there and back.

No more melted multifunction switch plugs. What’s not to love? I added LED bulbs and it’s super bright. Love them

No multifunction switch on mine, but I had the same melting issue with the headlight switch and had just recently replaced it - hopefully for the last time now that I have the relay harness.

One of the earlier posts said it wasn't necessary to install the harness if you're running the stock watt bulbs. Would you guys say this is still true?

Hell yes, even the stock lamps pull a lot of current through the headlight switch on older TJs and the MFS on newer ones. I had to replace my switch due to all that current over the years just wore it out. These parts are quickly becoming obsolete as well and the after market ones are a crap shoot. The harness is a breeze to install anyway.

I agree, the "regular" current through the headlight switch takes a toll after a while. My original was melted from the regular 55 Watt low beams.

I bought a pair of these for $46 shipped. I bought John Audette Porsche Bulbs (incandescent). They are awesome. The cut off is fantastic. I was going to drop a link here, but he is closed and filing bankruptcy. 😳 Sucks because I wanted another set of bulbs. They cost me about $70, way more than the housings but worth every penny.

I love mine, installed the harness and all over a year ago. And, I am just running the standard bulbs. Can't believe this pricing today. Some people are buying a 2nd set to store on a shelf. Joining that club. That's cheaper than buying dinner out even when including shipping.

The pack of (50?) quality (11 or 12"?) zip ties alone costs around $12-$14 most places. My supply house charges $12 for a pack of 50 GB 11"

Yes. The original lights didn’t use a relay and ran all the current through the switch. Not a smart design at all…but it is a Chrysler/Dodge/Stelantis product…..

This mod simply adds two relays so your existing light switch switches the relays on/off and then the relays handle the current. Even if you use the OE bulbs the mod is still a must do

Powering the headlights directly off the battery using relays is a common mod on classic cars to get brighter headlights. It reduces the voltage drop from all the series resistance in the factory headlight wiring harness. If the old car crowd finds out about these Toyota lights they will all be gone in a hurry.

Most groups know about the mod, they probably don't know about the price. Was a DIY years ago when I had a Wagoneer. Then just the harnesses started showing up cheaper than the materials and time to make. Now the lights too.

Ironically one item in high demand that you can get cheaper from the dealer than most other places. Crazy world we live in now.

I've got a set for my 71 chevelle sitting in the garage currently. Been running them on my jeep for a couple years with the hella bulbs.
