Ozzy Osbourne's grief stricken widow Sharon was supported by her children and thousands of fans today as she laid a single rose for her late husband during his poignant funeral procession through the streets of Birmingham.

The Black Sabbath frontman, who died last week aged 76, was commemorated in a parade through his hometown - with his family pausing at Black Sabbath Bridge to an outpouring of love from the crowd.

Sharon and Ozzy's children Jack, Kelly and Aimee laid their own floral tributes at the site - and made a peace sign as they gestured their gratitude to fans - while accompanied by Ozzy's son Louis from his first marriage to Thelma Riley.

The funeral cortege was led by a live brass band, Bostin' Brass, who performed versions of Black Sabbath songs such as Iron Man, as thousands of tearful devotees lined the streets and sang along in Ozzy's memory.

Huge crowds gathered along the route hours in advance of the 1pm start, to pay their respects to the Prince of Darkness whose hits included Paranoid and Sabbath Bloody Sabbath.

The hearse carrying the singer's coffin - adorned with purple flowers spelling out 'Ozzy' - passed the star's childhood home in Lodge Road, Aston, shortly after midday.

Flowers had been placed outside the terraced property, close to Villa Park while the owners of the house put up a picture of Osbourne in the front bay window.

It would be cool if they did an Ozzfest tour. Just have Zakk Sabbath play. They've been playing their covers on Sirius and they sound great. I might have to go see them play. Some shows around here in October.

I'd go to that.

Ozzy was buried next to a lake on their Buckinghamshire property, which was decorated with a wreath that reads "Ozzy Fucking Osbourne" and a floral arrangement that spells "Ozzy."

"Ozzy wanted his final place of rest to be at home and he is buried at a beautiful point on the lake," the friend added.

Killed a cobra by biting it back after it bit him, and he just took a little nap and woke up unharmed? That kid is a honey badger.

I didn't see it in the story, but I hope someone made some kind of keep-sake out of that snake for that kid, like maybe a tiny pair of boots.

Nobody expected a teenager to survive the 800m rounds at a USATF track nationals–let alone leave with a medal. But on Sunday in Eugene, Ore., 16-year-old Cooper Lutkenhaus did exactly that, storming to a jaw-dropping 1:42.27 to claim silver and break the U18 world record.

The performance also qualified him for September’s World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, where he’ll become the youngest athlete in history to represent Team USA at worlds.

Doha 2019 world champion Donavan Brazier won the race in a personal best of 1:42.16, with American record holder Bryce Hoppel taking third in 1:42.49.
