As the title states, I want a new muffler that is either short enough, or narrow enough, that I can remove the front bolt on the passenger side upper control arm without removing the muffler. I'm looking for something affordable (under $300).

A muffler with a body length of 16" would be perfect.

suggestions?

Loosen the exhaust, drop it down, remove bolt, flip it around and put the nut side on the inside.

That makes cat-back systems easier to choose!

The 2.5 Dynomax 17733 muffler is a bit smaller in width and height and will fit what you're trying to do. The Flowmaster Force 2 catback with their Delta 60 muffler did not get in the way though I had to adjust it around some contact with the upper control arm bracket.
You can also go to the smaller straight through glasspack/bullet designs from Flowmaster, Magnaflow, aFE and some others for a much smaller muffler, though they don't have the offset towards the center. Not sure how well they fit around the trackbar and shock area.
