Lower control arm bolts

[2005 wrangler X ?]

ok so I removed 4inch lift lower control arms

something smells and looks funny to me

the foreward bolts on BOTH control arms are NOT an oval washer for adjustment
the washer is perfectly ROUND
1- WHY would one use these bolts with NO adjustment?

as im dropping the 4ich lift

1- am I wrong in assuming I NEED the oval Bolts


its sitting on the bolts I had from the lift now (non adjustable) so I can turn the jeep around and back into the garage

It doesn't matter.

Most don’t have them. If you want some they are available through Black Magic Brakes. They center the bolt hole in the bracket. They don’t allow for caster adjustability. They assume you can adjust the caster with adjustable arms.

If you’re going back to OEM arms, or OEM-length arms, in theory this should put your caster at the factory spec of 7 deg +/- 1 deg, and the adjustable bolts would not be needed.

IIRC, the adjustable cam washers are round with an offset hole (not oval).

A well equipped alignment shop may have adjustable bolts on hand to use if necessary. But on the other hand they may not have them for 20 yr-old vehicles, so order a pair of the adjustable bolts yourself, but don't open the package. Take them with you to the alignment shop, and inform the shop that you have them available if needed to get the caster in spec. If the caster winds up within specs without the bolts, return them unopened for a refund.

Too bad you're not in NY; I've got an extra set of the stock adjustable bolts lying around from my suspension rebuild. The effort to get them to you probably wouldn't be worth the expense; I think you can get a set for 25 bucks or so. rouxbicon's got the right idea; if you don't wind up needing them and you're having it professionally dialed in, then you don't need 'em, and can just send them back.
