TJ crank position sensor replacement options

Hello There, Looking for the 2nd best option to the impossible to get Mopar crank position sensor. Mopar parts Canada totally out of stock, nothing on eBay or Amazon.
Just looking for a good back up just in case. @005 TJ 213,000km Working well just want to keep one handy. I've read Echlin or NTK.. who would be the best and what have your experiences been?

NTK is the oem for Mopar and Echlin has been shown to be reliable so either will work.

I put an Echlin on my 97 two years ago and just started getting misfire codes. Might not be the CPS.

Is this for an 05? Standard Motor Products is the go to and the off the shelf brand at oreillys. I replaced mine with one but did have to file down the brass bushing where the screw goes through on the OPDA to get it to seat in far enough to get a consistent signal.

I have tried replacing my original MOPAR unit with both options. NTK is made in USA and appears to be identical to the original. Echelin was made in Mexico and slightly different but seemed fine. BOTH ran fine but gave me misfires above 2700 rpm probably due to some sync issue that no shop could figure out. Luckily I found a MOPAR unit off ebay and the issues went away at all speeds and kept the NTK as a spare.

Im assuming mine is the origional Mopar crank position sensor. how long can I expect it to last? yes its an 05 auto actually checked mileage again, Its 215,000km or 134,375 miles approx.

It's just a hall effect sensor, there aren't even any moving parts so it theoretically could last forever. Next time one does stop working I want to do a little surgery to investigate what actually broke.

Well, I replaced my computer already from Wrangler fix which I'm sure will save me alot of grief in the future. Im just thinking "just in case"

It would probably be wise to have a minimal set of replacement sensors in the jeep at all times...crank & cam sensors for sure, just enough to get home if one died.

Before replacing the CPS I would remove the component from the bell housing; inspect the sensor surface and the trigger blocks on the flywheel for debris or rust.
Several years ago I was having misfire problems that would not go away no matter what I did to resolve the problem.
Shortly after I replaced the clutch, pressure place, flywheel and throw out bearing and found debris on the sensor surface and rust on the trigger blocks. With the new flywheel the trigger blocks were rust free and no more misfiters.

Ok great thanks guys for the replies, One more quick question. What the the basic relays/fuses known for going in the 2005? I would like to carry some spares with me and what have your experiences been? are Standard motor products good enough for a fuel pump relay? My baby below!

You should be fine with Standard Motor relays .

What the the basic relays/fuses

I stripped the fuse boxes of a couple of junkyard TJs and just have a ziplock bag of one of each type of relay, and assorted lot of fuses.

I trust old original stuff vs new Chinese crap.
